oh hi.

i have an interview tomorrow on dover street in somerville in the late afternoon. google street view shows what looks like a pretty residential street with some meters, and now i have to ask all those annoying questions - will it be easy to find a spot at one, or does that area get congested at that time? how strictly are they monitored? alternate parking in the immediate area? etc.

admittedly i typically avoid somerville like the plague because i have the worst sense of direction [ever] and usually get lost, but i really want to land this job and would hate to mess it up by doing something like showing up late because i was looking for parking.

currently i live out in quincy so the T all the way to davis would be a bit time consuming, though it is at least a straight shot on the red line. i also usually like the alone time in my car to relax beforehand, and then i also don't have to be lugging my portfolio which can be a pain. but generally speaking i'm definitely not opposed to taking the T instead of driving.

If you are coming from Quincy in the afternoon, you probably ought to take the train and park at like North Quincy. It's better than parking in Davis, being late, or slogging through the tunnel at rush hour.

I don't know where in Quincy you are, but for your info if you do get the job, I used to work in N. Quincy and I loved the T commute between there and Davis: 45 minutes including the walking time to/from the stations. I miss having T time to read.

i live by quincy adams, and did the commute by T to kendall for a good long time when i worked over there. it's really only interviews as far as job stuff goes that i like to drive, as sitting in my car alone [even if it's in traffic, strange as that may be to some] is relaxing to me and i tend to get really anxious before something new.

after living on the B line for two out of the seven years i've been in the boston area, the red line is like heaven by comparison :)
