I'm quite certain I haven't seen this mentioned here before.

I need to buy about two dozen postcards that say "Somerville, MA" somewhere on them. I think I might have seen some at the Blue Cloud Gallery many months ago, but I'm curious if anyone has seen some around elsewhere. Design doesn't really matter, just so long as it's clear they're from here. (Burrito wrappers can't really be mailed, I've found.)

I work at Magpie in Davis Sq and we have three post cards that say Somerville MA on them, and I am pretty sure we have 2 dozen between the designs.

These are made by the Somerville Arts Council and sold during the Illuminations Tour (and maybe other SAC events such as ArtBeat). Greg Jenkins or Rachel Strutt or Lauren Leeman can probably sell you some.

Davis Sqaured (on Highland) might have some local postcards too. It's worth a shot.

Ah! Cool; I want to do that, too. (And having the town on them is a nice touch that hadn't occurred to me.) xxooxx

Oh cool -- thanks!

Somehow I missed this in the slew of other email from him (I like to think it's from HIM) and now I'm excited to do this too!

Yes, we can!

These are the only ones I can remember seeing -- but my memory may be faulty.

Davis Squared is closed on Mondays, as I think Blue Cloud is too.

Actually, if hours on their web site are correct, Blue Cloud is open until 7 PM on Mondays.

Man, we have this postcard hanging on the wall at work, and I LOVE IT and wish I could find more of them. (It's been there since before I started, so it's like 8 years old.)

Anyway, it's got this little old Italian-looking guy, or maybe I just say that because he looks like my Italian grandfather. He's picking grapes in a backyard, and it says "Greetings from Somerville, Paradise City USA."

Best thing ever. If your search turns up anything like this, please let me know. ;)

I've got a bunch of them ... look on the back

They were created by Somerville Arts Council one year --- the photo itself was in a project called "Creating Eden".

And they rock.

Porter Square Books had a whole rack of postcards with random photos of Somerville on the front. I don't think it said the words "Somerville, MA" anywhere on the front, but the back of the cards told you the exact location within Somerville, MA where they were taken. I saw them there probably close to a month and a half ago, but you could call them to see if they still carry them.

I have two old Somerville postcards. One was issued by SCAT and reads, "The Official Tree of Somerville" and features a photo close-up of a "tree" of utility cables and street light affixed to a pole. I have not seen this one around in years, but it is pretty funny and I wish it were still available.

The other, which reads "Greetings from Somerville", features a photo close-up of yellow flowers in a garden and was issued by the Somerville Garden Club and SAC for a garden tour on June 17 of an unspecified year. The front is generic enough to cover several months of the year if those organizations wanted to issue the postcard for general use.
