Well, what do you have doubts about? Are you doubting that the suspect who has been apprehended is the attacker? Or are you doubting that the police have apprehended a suspect at all?
You want a robo-call every time the police get a report of someone being attacked? Even in the cases where no suspects have been identified, that's a lot of robo-calls.
The Channel 5 report says that the suspect also matches the description of the person involved in the Powderhouse assault last week. Putting aside for the moment the whinging about robocalls and the OP's oversight in not stating the judicial maxim of innocent until proven guilty, I say good on the police for their quick action, and good on the two victims for going to the police.
Let's suppose, just for the moment, that they got the wrong perp. Wouldn't the effect of a call announcing that they had caught the assailant have the general effect of making people relax a little, be less on-guard against the still-at-large ACTUAL perp?
For my money, a call announcing that they have apprehended a suspect is good. A call saying they have apprehended the attacker could be very bad indeed if they have the wrong person.
I had suspected as much yesterday (http://community.livejournal.com/davis_square/1340051.html). It just seemed too coincidental, and if he is found guilty, I think it is a good lesson in natural and unavoidable inaccuracies of police descriptions.
Call 311 and sign up for Connect CTY. You can provide up to three phone numbers, cell or landline, and two email addresses per household. If you don't want phone calls ever, let the 311 rep know that you wish to receive email notification only and we'll spoof the database to make sure your number isn't called. That way, you'll get the email version of the message without the phone call. (Many people want, and get, both.) We still need your physical address, though, since our notifications are geocoded.

(I know this because I am the jogger).
