Have you been following all the stories about him and his conflict of interest stories about a development on Craigie Steet? This is the just the latest. What does this guy actually do for the city or Ward 5 anyway. All that I've read about him shows that he is only looking out for himself. This is from Wicked Local yesterday, yet another part of the community he is harrassing:

Ward 5 Alderman Sean O’Donovan wants worshippers at the church on Broadway and Central Street to quiet down.

“It never seems to alleviate,” O’Donovan said of the noise emanating from the church. The church on the corner of Broadway and Central Street is Vida Real, a Spanish language church overseen by Pastor Luis Morales.

O’Donovan did not want to give the wrong impression, however. He insisted he was complaining about the noise, not the worshipping. “In no way or form is this order to be taken to mean we don’t cherish the people who worship,” O’Donovan said.

The Ward 5 Alderman said Somerville Police Chief Anthony Holloway had already spoken to the pastor and would begin enforcing the city’s noise ordinances to keep Vida Real quiet.

I'm no fan of Sean O'Donovan, but I do want to point out that this post appears to be from someone who just created an account for the purpose of posting it. New account, no friends except this community, no comments or other entries posted.

i know the quote. i just figured that was the trollingest thing i could say, after having been shocked at trolling. (either that, or saying something about how i'm glad the someday cafe is gone.)

Well, I never went to the Someday Cafe, and thus, with that total lack of comparison, I can safely say I prefer Mr. Crepe. :-)

Not merely a troll, but the noise from Vida Real has been complained about in this community before.

I think the original poster and others got some good leads on how to deal with their concerns before the Festival O' Racism 'N' Classism began.

Clearly, whoever suggested contacting the alderman was spot-on, since it sounds like he's taken the issue up with the church management right away.

You are such a moron - he is not harrassing this church, he is asking them to follow the same law everyone else has to follow, you nimwit.

Asking a group of people to obey the noise ordinances everyone else has to obey hardly qualifies as harassment.

I have some serious differences with Sean O'Donovan, but in this case he's doing exactly what a ward alderman should do: act on behalf of his constituents. Don't you remember this thread about Vida Real, just two weeks ago? There's a real noise issue and I'm glad that O'Donovan is addressing it.

I had friends who lived across from them on B'way and they complained a bit about noise of people loitering in front of the church (not the services or anything going on within the building).

Seriously, worst church people ever. They made living there hell at least one day per week.

Not to feed the troll or anything, but I will say Mr. O'Donovan responded very quickly to a concern I had a few months ago, and got the situation taken care of efficiently (and he involved the head of T&P, who also did a great job of quickly solving the problem).

Wow. I asked Sean O'Donovan to do something about this church last week, and he responded to me 1 day later telling me he would ask that noise ordinance be enforced. I have no prior experience with him or his politics, but I can certainly say I'm impressed with how he responded to this.

The church does need to quiet down. It's rude. If they really want to blast their music then they should properly soundproof their building so their neighbors don't need to listen to it.

I have to say, I lived on Central St. for a while and they were LOUD. I never managed to actually complain to someone about it, but I can certainly understand why someone would want to. It's nice to hear that your complaint was addressed.

Insightful stuff

This guy should apply for a job at the Somerville News, they'd give him a by-line on the spot.
