Does this involve karaoke?

Kind of. The game tracks your pitch and how well you pronounce the lyrics. It doesn't care about tonality or key: you can sing like a strangled marmot and as long as the pitch matches and you get the lyrics right, you're good.

Of course, you can also choose to play guitar or drums.
