I'm looking for recommendations for a place to get my nails done and my eyebrows done that is good and hygienic, but reasonably priced. This is in prep for a wedding next weekend, and I'll be bringing the bride with me, so it should be a reasonably niceish place that does a good job, but need not be a high end spa. Neither of us are regulars at this sort of thing as well, so English speaking would be preferable.

I do have a car so some distance is ok.

Most of the stuff with that tag is WAY old and not even relevant to the question.

Just to clarify: I didn't mean "don't post", just "there may be useful earlier posts worth looking at".

exactly! so worth the $. and i love the people who work there. they seem so happy to see you and they're always proud to offer the most current issues of tabloid and fashion magazines (as well as candy).

I hate that place for pedicures--they put your feet in a bucket, and the chairs aren't particularly comfortable.

The bucket is awesome! It's warm sudsy water with marbles in the bottom that you can rub your feet all over to massage them. And then you get a foot massage. It's the best pedicures I've ever had.

No kidding, one of the worst for me. Maybe your feet are smaller or something. Actual pedicure chairs are soo much better.

I assume the OP's looking for one-stop shopping, but I must agree that Lisa at Salon Femia does eyebrows better than anywhere else I've been. She's awesome! (I also like Square Nail, incl. their pedicures, but I can't afford them lately.)

I had a gift certificate for Pyara and had a mani pedi there recently. It was fantabulous -- not only did she do a superb job, it also lasted longer than most mani pedis I've had. But I never tried their other services, and while they're not *horrifically* expensive, you can certainly get things done quite well for cheaper at places like Julie's Nails.

I love Julie's Nails for their prices and quality, but it sounds like you're looking for something maybe a little bit more upscale? If you're going with the bride, you might not really get to see each other because the pedicure chairs are lined up one behind another. While the staff are nice, they can be a little hard to understand. And, though I've never gone there for waxing, they take people into the back of the store what seems to be into the basement.

I haven't been to the new Spa Bella on Holland, but as its previous incarnation as Breathe Spa, they had great pedicures, their prices were reasonable, and the atmosphere was a lot nicer than Julie's.

I had my nails done (french tip acrylics) at MY Salon in Arlington for my wedding, and it was easily the best job I've ever seen. They also have someone who does threading, and after experiencing eyebrow threading, I will NEVER go back to waxing. I've got sensitive skin and fine hair, and threading really tidies up the brows without causing breakouts or taking too little hair. I suppose it's technically a spa, but it has a very homey feel to it :)

that's true... if you want something more upscale, Julie's probably isn't the best place.

They do...but seriously, if you haven't tried threading, you should give it a try.
