Really, the best way is to upgrade to firefox 3. Firefox 2 is (as of Dec. 18) no longer getting security updates, so you wanna anyway.

IF you have a mac - turn on voice over and tab over to the image. Screen readers (freebie easy one being VO on a mac) read the alt tags (which is why WCAG 2 requires/politely requests that all sites include alt tags) and truncated tags.
My fandom exists in tags.
