Just curious. Directly, or indirectly. For instance, I assume that some MIT postdocs may have been funded by the Picower foundation, and that went down because of Madoff. Tufts lost $20 million.

Does Tufts University count?

"In 2005, the university's Investment Committee authorized an investment with Ascot Partners, which in turn invested the entire sum with Madoff Securities. We have written off the value of this investment, which totaled $20 million, or slightly less than 2 percent of our endowment."

"Ascot Partners"? Well, that smacks of such a parody of moneybagging asshattery that I'd be inclined to avoid investing with them in the first place. Or maybe Richie Rich Investments wasn't accepting new clients...?

Just strip him naked and run him through the streets.

Sarcasm aside, the government needs to drop the hammer, and hard. The only thing that terrifies people is one of their own thrown under the bus, and the bus backs over that person several times.

Good god, hasn't the man done enough damage to society without burning scarring images into everyone's minds?

Plenty of buses in Davis or Union Square, if that's needed.

Since people don't generally read new replies to old posts, I've made a new post linking to a Somerville News story on this subject.

YouthBuild USA and the Somerville Arts Council are both taking a hit from this.
