You must have gotten a different email from J.P. Licks than what I got. My email message from them said this:

Don't have a Cash Cow card? It's FREE!

Simply go into any J.P. Licks store and pick up a Cash Cow Card and register it to start earning rewards.

When you sign up, you'll get a free ice cream and a free coffee as well as a free sundae on your birthday! Isn't it great to be rewarded?

I actually work for the company that provides the technology for J.P. Lick's cards, and I'm a bit surprised they told you that. ~All~ cards are available to register, whether you've added money or not. Sounds like your cashier wasn't really sure how the program works.

That aside, using the card is good stuff, since you get a 10% kickback plus random free things. There's a lot of other places around that we provide these types of programs for, like Boloco and Finale; so if you're willing to keep cards in your wallet, there's more free stuff to be had.

Yep! http://www.finaledesserts.com/sweetrewards.php

Same type of concept, just not reward-happy as Boloco (And really, nobody is; they're always running a ton of promos if you're on their email list. The only other place off the top of my head that comes close to them is Beer Works. $10 off every month, ftw).

Boloco and Finagle-a-Bagel both use the same website for registered cards, with the unfortunate result that my computer can only remember one username/password pair or the other, not both.
