I would like to find a place I can go to buy tempered custom size glass. My grandmother said there is a place in Somerville but she cant remember the name. I have been searching as I drive around but have come up with nothing. Has anyone heard of a business that does this?

i think it's in cambridge, and called something like "cambridge glass", but there's a storefront on rindge ave where they do this.

I don't know about "tempered", but I'm pretty sure Tags does custom glass cutting.

When I wanted a piece of tempered glass (to replace a refrigerator glass shelf that broke), I went to an auto glass place. They were able to cut one easily.

There's an auto glass place on Mass. Ave. in East Arlington (J.N. Phillips). If they can't cut it there, I'm sure the glass place across the street can:
B & R Glass Company
(781) 643-1102
109 Massachusetts Ave, Arlington, MA 02474

IIRC, the owner's name is Buzzy, and he's very helpful. He saved me a lot of money on an auto mirror issue that Phillips couldn't solve.

Buzzy is an awesome old dude. He was a client of mine at my previous job years ago, and was always really brusque and yet sweet at the same time. I'm glad he's still in business.

What I liked about him was that he seemed more interested in helping me solve my glass problem than he did about making a profit.

For normal glass or mirrors, I've gotten it done at Lowe's in Woburn. For fancy glass (as well as normal), I have gone to:
Mario's Classic Mirror Co
232 Mystic Ave
Medford, MA 02155
(781) 391-2625

(it's rather close to Somerville, but car/bus is probably necessary)

There's a glass place on Broadway, just east of McGrath Highway... Glass & Mirror Inc.

There's a place called, I think, Glass Stop. It's across from Target on Somerville Ave. (not across toward Burger King, but across the street toward Lechmere). They're pretty reasonable if I remember correclty.

i've gotten a couple pieces of tempered glass at this place: good service, reasonable prices. if you need to have the mark on the glass indicating it's tempered (fer instance, to meet code requirements) make sure you ask for a "logo".
