I'll be moving to the Davis/Porter Square area in two weeks, and I'm arriving by plane with a bunch of luggage. What's my best option to get to the area between Davis and Porter? I can't really take the T because of the luggage, but is a cab my only option? About how much should I expect to pay? Thanks!

Date: 2004-08-23 06:12 am (UTC)Make sure they take the Sumner Tunnel and it's fastest if they get off at the Medford Square exit of 93 and then just take College Ave. down to Davis. It kind of depeneds on where you live, the Somverville exit might be faster if you live further east. Get yourself a map and find out before you get here. Be vigilant, cabs in boston aren't like those in NY or Chicago, they're pretty well known for ripping people off. They drive around the block a few times or take a longer route on purpose. Be specific about your instructions and you should be okay.
My hubby got so pissed off once that he actually got out at the tunnel exit and left the cabbie with the toll to pay because he had completely ignored his instructions and was about to take a different tunnel.
My husband and I have done this so often I could do it in my sleep.
