an e-mail I got from Stephanie Hirsch at city hall:
Here's a quick reminder that street sweeping resumes tomorrow (Wednesday, April 1st). Below is the City's official notice. If you do not already receive phone or e-mail notices of street closures, parking rules, etc. (you may have heard about the CTY calls from Tom Champion), click here to be added to the CTY call list: http://faqs.somervillema.intelligovsoftware.com/cty.aspx. You'll need to enter your street address, since many of the alerts relate to very specific streets or neighborhoods.

Residents are reminded that they must adhere to posted notifications of schedules, and move vehicles to the appropriate side of the street on sweeping days in their neighborhood. Failure to comply with street sweeping parking regulations will result in a $50 fine. For more information regarding street sweeping procedures, please call the City's 311 constituent service line.

Date: 2009-03-31 07:42 pm (UTC)I'm exaggerating, but when fines increased, there was the comparison by City Hall to Boston, and I forget where else. It's part of the multifacted comparisons the city was making about that time: Parking fines, we need to get in line with Boston and Cambridge. Property value/rate calculation, now we compare to Arlington, Medford.
Except when we come to development at Assembly Square - how about Chelsea and Everett for comparables. Drive me up a wall, already.
