Boston Burger Company is now open in the space formerly occupied by Antonia's, next to JP Licks. Contrary to earlier rumors, they did not expand into the former Breathe Spa space next door; that is still vacant.

Their web site appears to be BostonBurgerCo.com. They have menus posted outside, but the menus do not list the URL. That may be just as well, since the menu on the web site is far too small to read easily (at least, for someone my age). I would e-mail them, except that the Contact Us page contains only directions, and no actual contact info.

EDIT 5:15 pm: Here's a link to a fully readable image of the menu. There's also now an e-mail address on the Contact Us page.

EDIT 4/7, 8 pm: Here's a link to a fully readable image of the menu. Dear Boston Burger Company: please don't move it again.

If you view the menu image on its own, it gets up to "barely legible". ;-)

(In Firefox, right-click on the image and select "View Image".)

The directions page does have a phone number, but I suppose talking to whoever happens to be behind the counter is unlikely to be useful.

If you find an email address, you might also want to point out that they're offering directions by public transit to "Boston Curger Co".

The menu IS Barely readable if you enlarge the image.

They have a "artery clogger" which involves chicken-fried burger and bacon, "The King" which involves peanutbutter, bananas and bacon (on a burger??? EWWWW) and a conch burger.

IDK about bananas, but the peanut-butter-on-a-burger is awesome.

Thanks for the info!
We eat out in Davis a lot of nights due to theater stuff, so it's great to have a new option.

I'm not at all enthused by the fact that they have a $1 surcharge to substitute a veggie patty (or turkey) in place of the standard beef burger.

That, and the "Terodactyl" wings.

this. I was curious whether they'd have veggie at all, glad they do (obv. it remains to be seen whether they are any good . . . ) but quite disappointed to see the surcharge. That's discouraging. (I realize it's probably a scale purchasing thing, but meat's expensive, right? Shouldn't a veggie burger be cheaper for them?)

I looked at their menu earlier today and was shocked to see that veggie and turkey are $1 more than angus beef. I know that some places charge LESS for a veggie burger but have never seen $1 more.

this surcharge pretty much guarantees that we won't bother eating here. charging more for a veggie burger is just plain bad customer service. i enjoy burgers a lot but having a vegetarian in my party who not only has such limited choices but then has to pay more the privilege is not going to lure me into any high-end burger joint.

Other items of note:
• They will apparently be serving beer and wine.
• A side of fries is $4? A side of sweet potato fries is $7!?
• "South Western Egg Rolls"?

I'm really baffled that the sweet potato fries are $6 (or $7, but I have no idea what the difference is between the two types) when the burgers themselves are about $8. It's just such a weird price proportion, you'd expect either the fries to be cheaper or the burgers to be much more expensive. What kind of burger place has fries that are almost 90% of the cost of the burger? It's too bad, because sweet potato fries are awesome.

And you just illustrated why they charge more for them - demand.

what's very confusing about the expensive fries is that some "flavored" fries are merely spices and yet cost dollars more. like "lemon pepper fries" for instance: lemon pepper is a bulk spice mix and certainly can't justify such a price point for the mere shaking of a can. perhaps these special fries also come with some sort of special sauce that might cost more. sauces often contain ingredients or require labor that would justify the higher cost.

also, if the sweet potato fries are made int eh same fryer as the regular fries, then the longer cooking time doesn't matter. the fryers are on and heated no matter what you put in them and they remain on until the kitchen closes. it uses no more energy to cook one thing over another. now, if these special fries are cooked in a pan or something, then that is a different story.

Regarding ability to see the menu, if you hold down Cntl while scrolling up with your mouse, the screen will enlarge (at least in Internet Explorer).

Hmmmm, $4 for fries? I could see that for a big-ass basket, but I couldn't see an lesser-priced option to get some fries with a burger.

Also odd that the base burger is $7.50, yet you can add a burger to one of the salads for only $2.

And I swear there's another burger joint I've been to somewhere here in town where they also charge extra to sub in a veggie burger.

Menu has disappeared from the link.

Considering all I've read in the comments, I think I'll stick with Bartley's and their delicious Yuppie burgers.

Tried them out tonight, got the Waikiki burger, it was huge, not RF O'Sullivan's huge, but a real good size. It was right to order, medium rare and truly tasted awesome. The chips it came with weren't salted (or at least didn't seem salted) and it tasted just fine that way. It also came with either cole slaw or boston baked beans, I got the baked beans and they were great.

I didn't get any, but the fries were huge steak fries and looked yummy.

The wife got a caesar salad, it was pretty big, she thought the dressing was ok, but the size made up for it...

the wait staff and owners (at least I think they were the owners) were great.

all in all, I think the bbc will be a great addition to the square.

Thanks for being our guinea pig. I definitely want to try this place.

If their burgers come with (handmade?) chips and a side of slaw or beans, they should definitely add that info to the menu. It makes ordering a $9 burger an easier decision.
