I got this e-mail from Boloco. Even if it's just a marketing stunt, I figure enough people here remember and like Boloco that it's worth posting (under a lj-cut). Quick summary
Veggie burritos: regular $3.88, large $4.88
Chicken and tofu burritos: regular $3.99, large $4.99
Steak and pork burritos: regular $4.59, large $5.59
Smoothies: small $2.99, large $3.99
All prices good only at 340 Boston Ave, Medford Hillside
That location is now open until 2 am Fridays and Saturdays
Friends,
The only Boloco in our family of restaurants in danger of closing is at 340 Boston Avenue in Medford. Why? We have theory after theory, of course, but the plain truth is we'd love it if we didn't have to close.
To avoid this miserable outcome, we enlisted the help of some enterprising Tufts students who suggested a lot of stuff that might help: comfy couches, free wireless internet, rock n' roll music, paintings and photographs from students and local artists, a community cork board, late night (2am) service on Friday and Saturday nights, and stupidly low prices (when I say stupid low, I'm not kidding, especially when you consider the quality of the ingredients we use at Boloco). So what did we do with those suggestions? We just did them. Period. Check. Done. Finito.
But we need to do more... and we will do more, but we need more help. Help from you.
We can't stay without your help. You need to share your passion for Boloco with your friends and family. If you belong to a group or organization, suggest that Boloco cater your next meeting. We'll deliver right to you. If you're with a group of friends, why not say "Let's do Boloco tonight?" It's cheap as hell anyway, it's a really short walk (seriously), so why not? They're little things, but they add up. Bottom-line... just go. Every visit matters.
And, as always, if you have something to say about any of this in the form of kudos, criticisms, or suggestions, please SPEAK UP: send us a note at buzz@boloco.com, post a suggestion on our cork board in the restaurant, or talk to Boston Avenue kingpin (aka manager) and life-long Medford resident Anthony DiBella. We'll listen, learn, and react as best we know how. And in the meantime, while we're still alive and kicking, we'll continue to support all things Tufts and Medford as we have since the day we showed up.
Cheers,

yes, rice and beans cost a LOT for restaurants! ...oh wait, i forgot, boloco doesn't even make burritos anyway, they make wraps.
still, i do not consider six bucks to be 'stupid low' for a chain fast food place.

Date: 2009-04-14 04:23 pm (UTC)lol, i just like taking shots at boloco ever since they changed from the wrap when i used to go there. you could get the same stuff and a drink for six bucks and it was better imo from burrito max. i just thought it was funny he seemed to think they were reinventing the wheel here with these craaaaaaaazay prices.
