For a paper that likes to make fun of the "Farm Team", this is certainly amateur hour at its best. This has been on the site since Wednesday and they still haven't realized that a) construction isn't starting until 2011 at least and b) they would not start in Ball square

...and c) that it may not happen, ever.

It's funny that with all the real issues regarding the extension of the green line, including the recent designation of that portion of MBTA ROW as a National High Speed Rail Corridor, the Journal chooses to report on something completely fictitious.

That's just the point, [livejournal.com profile] ron_newman, the Somerville Journal never wrote about it.

However, anyone who has read both planning studies would quickly see that both the Boston-Montreal High Speed Rail Line and the Green Line extension plan on using the same, presently unused ROW through Somerville.

That pic sure doesn't show much! Are we sure that was even taken in this country?!

I wonder if they'd take a vigilante submission. :-)

But the snark community is for snarking what happens in [livejournal.com profile] davis_square, not for snarking what happens in the actual real world. I think we can snark those things right here.

Nah, that's just part of its role. Ask the mod. :)

Wait, are you saying a journalist should do something crazy like check with an mbta official or read publicly available documents to see what's planned? That's, like, totally stifling their creativity.

Guess they are eager for the Green Line extension to be shovel ready! I could not decide if it was the dumbest local newspaper gaff I've seen in a while or simply a joke that missed April Fool's Day. (Yeah it is especially funny in light of their making fun of "Farm Team".)
