I called the city once complaining about this same kind of thing, and they said local noise ordinances end at 7am.

I did the same thing once and when they answered "7am," I involuntarily blurted out: "7am?!? What is *wrong* with you people?! ... ... uh... sorry... I mean, uh, Thank you very much. sorry about that. bye."

The construction day starts at 7am here, not 8am.

The fact that they are working on a Saturday indicates to me that the work may (may) be critical or important, as I believe that is automatically overtime.

Matt I wish it was. Its just standard road work. New road surface and sidewaks. No deep digging, just cosmetic.

Public works said --admittedly -- that parking was suspended for a week on Herbert st to do roadwork. but after taking off the surface of the street and taking out the sidewalk, they took 2 days off, started at 7:15 today and took off at 3pm.

They definitely got their time & a half overtime. I am sure it wasn't an accident

I really don't mind 7am during the week--most people are up or getting up for work, but on a saturday -- thats a bit much.

indeed it is -- howsomeever, there are official ways to try to get this changed, which anyone is free to pursue. get yer ducks in a row, 'cause there surely will be fallout from any such effort...

They must have a contractor going around and chipping all the streets that need chipping in one go. They did mine on Wednesday? Thursday?, and I've noticed a couple of others in W Somerville that have been done.

One of the few times being badly hard of hearing is a Win-- I slept through it.
