Svaroopa Yoga?

Does anyone know of a local yoga studio that has a class in the Svaroopa style yoga? After a little searching, I found a place in Roslindale. As nice as the place looks, a two hour long round-trip commute on the MBTA would sort of defeat the purpose of the yoga.

Or do any local places have yoga classes similar to the Svaroopa style? I know very little about yoga aside from a class in college where we did Svaroopa. All I know is that my back felt awesome for 3 months and I loved that most of the class was spent lying on blankets. So any recommendations for a local place that teaches a style of yoga that's relaxing and helps the spine would also be appreciated!

I don't know anyone local but Bucky, one of the owners of inspiritcommon.com in Hadley, teaches Svaroopa. Probably worth giving him a call and asking. Or maybe the MA Kripalu center would have some info.

Doreen teaches Svaroopa yoga at the Back Bay Healthworks on Sunday mornings and elsewhere at other times. She's fantastic. Her website is http://www.yogawithdoreen.com/AboutUs.html.

Wow, after looking at the website I've realized that she was possibly my teacher (she was an adjunct professor at Northeastern which is where I took the class). If I'm thinking of the right person, she was definitely awesome!

Do you know if they allow drop ins? Or is it the sort of thing I need to pre-register for? If it's the same style class from when I was at Northeastern, $23 and a small commute is totally worth it.

I know that Healthworks runs periodic "classes only" passes at a deep discount on places like Boston Groupons...but South End Yoga is probably a good place to start. It looks like they offer both drop-in and 10-class rates, plus a discounted 3-class rate for first-timers. http://www.southendyoga.com/schedule

That's super helpful, thanks! $25 for 3 classes is a great deal and it looks like the #1 bus drops you off right there. 2 stops on the red line + bus ride is much, much better than 2 trains and a bus to Roslindale.
