At the Medical Reserve Corps meeting tonight the health department team announced a flu vaccination clinic tomorrow (Dec 17) at the City Hall Annex on 50 Evergreen Avenue, Somerville, MA 02143.

They will offer seasonal and H1N1 vaccinations. You can get both at the same session. They just got approval to open it up beyond the risk groups today, everyone can get it now, and it came too late to get it on the city web site.

Summary:
December 17 Flu vaccination clinic
4-7pm
50 Evergreen Ave St, City Hall Annex

Tweetable form: Somerville ma: vax clinic 4-7pm (Thu Dec17). City Hall Annex. Seasonal and H1N1 both available.

Oh, is this clinic only Flu Mist? I think that's not recommended for people over 50 (like me).

How are you feeling after getting both at the same time? I've never gotten a flu shot for fear of being that rare person who gets ill from it...

I got both (one mist, one shot), and I feel fine, except for some soreness in my arm from the shot. Sometimes I get a little sick after a flu shot, but it's along the lines of sniffly for a day, not full-on flu. Definitely worth the trade-off.

It's funny, I called 311 today (as the signs and web site suggests) to find out about upcoming flu clinics and the person not only knew nothing, but transferred me to an extension that went nowhere. So I called the Health Dept directly and they told me about tomorrow's clinic, which is still not on the web site.

No real point to this comment except to grouse about the City's crap-ass web site (and wonder why 311 was so clueless today).

This will be my third try at a flu shot and I plan to arrive on the early side of on time. Hopefully I'll get taken care of before they run out.

When I got mine at Vote and Vax they asked you to bring your insurance information. No charge, but I think they try to recoup some of the costs from your insurance since most cover vaccines.

Do you have to be a Somerville resident?
I'm a former Somerville resident who cares for young kids under 6 months of age. I've been trying and failing to get vaccinated at other clinics due to long lines and supplies.
I could really use this.
