How to find a notary public

I have a completely ignorant question. I have a document that I need notarized by end of business tomorrow. How do I find a notary public? I have no idea where to even start, beyond a google search, which I did do. I'm worried that a lot of businesses that often have one 'on call' may not because it is a holiday week.

Thoughts? I'm in Davis all day today and nearby tomorrow as well.

Go to Citizens bank and ask one of the desk employees for their Notary

I've been told that most banks have a notary on staff. My experience has been that this seems true of Wainwright, and as a Wainwright customer, it was a free service. Call your bank and see if they have one available.

The Notary on Highland Ave is Marie Howe. She's just a few doors up from Kick*ss Cupcakes. She's a very nice lady, and may be able to schedule you in also.

Every bank has one. Just go into BoA or Wainwright and ask for notarization. As far as I know, it's free at both banks. (I'm a Notary Public, but I can't do it today. If you've still not been able to get it done by tomorrow, ping me.)

It sounds like you're all set, but just in case: my husband and I have happily used the services of the Mobile Notary (http://www.mobilenotaryres.com/) based in Belmont. Her webpage says she is available dawn to dusk any day, including weekends and holidays. Not free though!

a note to all the posters who are reporting that one bank or another might notarize for non-customers:

Notaries Public are commissioned officers of the Commonwealth. by law (http://www.mass.gov/Agov3/docs/EO455finalrevised.doc), a notary may not refuse to notarize based on whether the applicant is a customer of the notary’s employer.

per Massachusetts Executive Order 445 (http://www.mass.gov/Agov3/docs/EO455finalrevised.doc), section 6(b):

(b) A notary public shall not refuse to perform a notarial act solely based on the principal’s race, advanced age, gender, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, health, disability, or status as a non-client or non-customer of the notary public or the notary public’s employer.

if you encounter a notary who refuses to notarize because you are not a customer, please contact the Governor’s office (http://www.mass.gov/?pageID=gov3utilities&sid=Agov3&U=Agov3_contact_us).

I think it's generally less a question of whether they will do it as whether or not it's free . . .

You can have documents notarized at the City Clerk's Office, Somerville City Hall.
