How to find a notary public
Dec. 21st, 2009 08:03 amI have a completely ignorant question. I have a document that I need notarized by end of business tomorrow. How do I find a notary public? I have no idea where to even start, beyond a google search, which I did do. I'm worried that a lot of businesses that often have one 'on call' may not because it is a holiday week.
Thoughts? I'm in Davis all day today and nearby tomorrow as well.
ETA: thanks to all for the info!

Notaries Public are commissioned officers of the Commonwealth. by law (http://www.mass.gov/Agov3/docs/EO455finalrevised.doc), a notary may not refuse to notarize based on whether the applicant is a customer of the notary’s employer.
per Massachusetts Executive Order 445 (http://www.mass.gov/Agov3/docs/EO455finalrevised.doc), section 6(b):
if you encounter a notary who refuses to notarize because you are not a customer, please contact the Governor’s office (http://www.mass.gov/?pageID=gov3utilities&sid=Agov3&U=Agov3_contact_us).
