Waxing

In trying a find a waxer, I checked the memories and came across Priscilla at Skin & Body Works. Are they still open? I've been trying to call them all day, and all I get is a "full mailbox" notice.

Alternatively, any other recommendations for a good & preferrably cheap bikini/Brazilian waxer?

Not very cheap

Rosa at Mario's (http://www.yelp.com/biz/marios-salon-somerville) in Somerville is outstanding and inexpensive.

We don't really have 'memories' in this LJ community, but I just added an appropriate tag. See if any of the earlier posts are helpful.

Kelly at VIP Spa & Nail on Mass Ave is great.

She's in Porter, but worth the short walk over.

I love Isabella at April's Hair Cutting!

She uses bee's wax for Brazilians which is apparently much less painful than the kind that needs the linen strips. I had expected to be in a lot of pain for at least a day day after my first wax ever, but I was pretty much pain-free within a half an hour.

And her prices is very reasonable: $28 for a full Brazilian.

Skin and Body Works should be still open - they were in December, anyway. I highly recommend Priscilla (and recommend much less highly her little assistant - Rachel? Rebekah?). Try calling again - if you manage to leave a message, they are very good at returning calls.

Yes, Skin & Body Works is still open - I just saw Priscilla on Friday. They are closed on Mondays so they can have 2 days off - their weekend being Sunday & Monday.

I used to go to Priscilla she did a great job but it was next to impossible to get an appointment..less than 2 weeks out after a 9-5 job....J's the best..it's less expensive that Skin and Body, much easier to get an appointment with Janet she's open every day but Monday. CALL HER..i love her :-) (617) 628-7809

They are closed on Mondays but are most definitely still open...I got electrolysis from Cathy last week based on a rec. from this community. Ironically I used to get Brazilians done by Priscilla a few years ago...when I walked in she remembered me and we talked for long time. She is worth waiting for :)

I second the shout out for Rosa at Mario's. I've been going to her for 2 years and she's great, super thorough and very affordable.

J's Nails is the best. I also used to go to Priscilla @ Skin & Body but same experience as previous poster, nearly impossible to get appt. J's actually does a more thorough job.

un-recommend

I do not recommend DSSBW for any waxing ... a close friend got a Brazilian and the owner (who did the wax) left a significant amount of wax behind (use your imagination on how gross/inconvenient/unprofessional) that is. And then she was huffy when said friend asked for a refund.

Apologies for the double post but I suppose I should be constructive ... we now get all of our waxing done at Sasha in Harvard Square and everyone there is fantastic.
