Does anyone have a preferred hospital or clinic for getting PT after an injury? I'm specifically interested in those facilities that understand athletes or can at least accept that I'll go back to doing the thing that broke my ankle in the first place. I'm covered by Tufts Health Insurance if that helps narrow it down. Longwood area is fine, as is anything near MGH.

I was seen at the BIDC ortho clinic after I broke my ankle. While my experience there wasn't profoundly negative, the overall disorganization and lack of staffing made getting PT there seem less than ideal.

I go to Sports & PT. They have several locations. Here's the site: www.sportsandpt.com I go to the Wellesley location since it's close to work, but I know they have locations all over the place. They work with athletes & the goal is to get you back to doing your sport.

Agreed. SPTA, 333 longwood or there have one out in waltham if you have a car. They see the gamut from occupational to car accident to many, many athletic injuries including dance, skating, hockey...and golf?

Seen them over the years for knee, shoulder, toe, neck, back, hip... jeez, I'm getting old. Always got me back on the playing field quickly.

I see a physical therapist for a running injury near-weekly at MGH. She's in the Sports Medicine offices a couple blocks up Cambridge St. from the main hospital campus, and she's great. As is her assistant, and as are other PT's there. http://www2.massgeneral.org/sports/therapy.html

Mt Auburn

I've had PT through Mt Auburn for a serious back problem (2 different times) and for ulnar nerve entrapment. In both cases the PT was mostly a joke/waste of time. Treatment consisted mostly of being given some nth generation photocopies of exercises (same ones I found myself on the web) and heat/ultrasound. There seemed some bizarre taboo against like... um massage for a back problem. Also had the impression that much of the deal has to do with disability job claims - so all these pointless sessions are scheduled so payments can be continued.

Hopefully it is different with sports related injuries. Also, I was going through my insurance so maybe if you go to a place that doesn't take 3rd party payments, they actually do something.

The Marino Center's PT folks are fantastic.

I was just looking through old physical therapist recommendations and came across this one. Do you have any particular physical therapist you would recommend at the Marino center?
