This is the space formerly occupied by the Chinese restaurant right next to True Grounds. They already have signs up, but the interior is not even close to being ready. They advertise that they will serve Nepali & Indian food. I assume the name is not reflective of the menu, though I give them points for originality and use of one of the few references that has you thinking "Nepal" right away.

Sounds like it might be related to this place. (http://www.theyakandyeti.com/)

It's also a luxury hotel in Nepal (http://www.yakandyeti.com/home/index.php). (I was disappointed that the name was not as clever as I had initially thought. But I'm looking forward to trying the food.)

That was my very first thought on seeing the sign too. I bet the yeti meat is really expensive.

Back in California, I used to frequent a Nepalese restaurant called Annapurna (which also evokes Nepal right away) but none of the local places I've tried have compared. Damn, I miss that place.

I will maintain cautious optimism. A name like Yak & Yeti makes me think it's more likely to be hipster and/or Americanized.

It's also the name of a restaurant in Disney World...

It's also the name of a restaurant I keep meaning to try on Mass Ave. Cambridge near Porter Sq.

Oh, yeah! Thanks for the heads-up.

There's no Indian food over here. That will be an easy scooter trip for takeout.

Also convenient for before the next bowling night....

That's a good piece. I recall seeing it in an episode of Chronicle last summer or fall.

I'm excited, I hope the space is nice. Any idea if they are getting a liquor license?

I am thrilled to hear about the new restaurant! I wish you shared some pics with the place even if it's not ready for guests yet. If it's a Nepali and Indian food restaurant they must be pretty special, love that food and that's because it's cooked with specific restaurant equipment and supplies (http://www.superprod.com/category/bar.do), that's what makes it unique and that's why you can't cook it at home even if you have the right ingredients.
