can anyone recommend a good (ie, reliable) shuttle service from logan? i have a ride to the airport, i just need a ride home. my plane gets in at 7 or so on a monday night, and if possible i'd like to NOT have to wait half an hour for the shuttle to show up.

From the airport to davis? There's this MBTA thing I've heard about...

Given all the public transportation, it would be silly for a company to run a public, free shuttle from Logan to Davis, and if for some unknown reason they did, it wouldn't be frequent enough to beat the T.

If you're under time pressure, take a cab. If you're under financial pressure, take the T. If you're under both, get a friend to pick you up.

While we are at it, go ahead and send off some letters to the city of Boston and to MBTA asking for a Red-Blue line connection.

Having to switch trains twice is crazy.

I have timed it - no matter what, from my house north of Teele Square it is almost exactly an hour to get to the airport on the T. I imagine I could easily cut 15-20 minutes out of that if the Red and Blue lines lined up somewhere.

Or if you're carrying too much crap to T with, take a cab. The ride's about $25 but it's door-to-door.

I'd recommend calling Green Cab as soon as you're off the plane - the cabs that pick up at the airport can't always find the Davis area.

Unless something has changed in the last year or so, Green Cab cannot pick up at Logan. Massport (or whomever has the jurisdiction) sells licenses for the right to pick-up (not drop off) at Logan - Green Cab does not have said license.

And I too can confirm that the cost of a cab from Logan>Davis is in the $35 range. I've never had a problem with one of the cabbies finding Davis Sq, maybe I've just been lucky...

Actually, the last time I took a cab to Logan (to Hancock & Summer), it was more like $35.

I don't think we have anything like a SuperShuttle here.

The other day I saw a sign in the window of one of the businesses over by the Friendly Corner store (on the corner of Mass. Ave and Cameron/Harvey St.--about a ten minute walk from Davis on the Minuteman Trail) about an airport shuttle service that runs every hour, 24 hours a day. Dan Shuttle Service or something? I don't know if that's close enough to you, but if it is, you might want to see if you can find the sign and call about it...

I don't think most of those shuttle services would be any cheaper than a cab though.

Alas the good shuttle service went out of business. :( It was still a wait for them to pick you up, because you were to call when ready to go (e.g. after you got your luggage)

If you want convenient, I would recommend walking to the cab stand and taking the next cab. Expect to have to direct them.
