THE BOSTON AVENGERS CORDIALLY INVITE YOU TO A DAY AT THE BEACH....

Sunday -- August 25th -- 1 p.m.
Singing Beach, Manchester-By-The-Sea
See below for directions.

Singing Beach is a world-famous natural marvel. Not only is it a stunningly beautiful beach, it is phenomenally interesting. The sand makes a squeaky "singing" sound as you walk on it that has been studied and analyzed by all sorts of geologists.

Join the Boston Avengers as we take over a small plot of beach Singing Beach and declare it a BODY ACCEPTANCE ZONE! Everyone is welcome -- people of all sizes, we especially welcome our non-fat, anti-fatphobia allies to come and show support.

There will be snacks, frisbee, swimming and the beauty of being outside of the city. To find us: look for the signs marking the body positive zone (they'll be on sheets on the
sand).

DIRECTIONS:

COMMUTER RAIL: Take the Rockport line of the commuter rail and get off at the Manchester stop. The beach is a relatively short walk from the station but you might want to pack light.

CAR: Take Rte I-95 and onto State Rte 128 to Gloucester Take Exit 15 (School St. exit) At the ramp, take a right to School St and follow to the end Take a left onto State Rte. 127 then a hard right to Beach St Follow to the end Total Distance: 30 miles

Generally you probably won't be able to park in the actual beach lot but there's a large lot at the commuter rail station (which you pass on your way there) and then it's just a short walk to the beach.

Why are we doing this?

Because fat people are still made to feel ashamed of ourselves on a
daily basis, because the New England Medical Journal admits that despite the media hype they still cannot link weight to health problems yet when we go to doctors they chalk up any medical problem to our size and tell us to lose weight, because in fact many fat people are made to feel so ashamed at the doctor that we avoid going and we don't get the proper medical care, because PETA uses fatphobia to promote vegetarianism discounting the voices of fat vegetarians, because too many teachers still allow fat children to be harassed, tormented, beaten or have their self-esteem completely eroded, because Southwest among other airlines expects us to buy two tickets, because we pay more for our clothes even though retailers don't discount smaller sizes, because employers discriminate against fat people in hiring, because on average
we're paid $7,000 less per year compared to our non-fat co-workers,
because we're assumed to be lazy, unfit and weak, because the world is still hostile to fat people everywhere ... I AM A PART OF THE FAT
POSITIVE MOVEMENT!
