Irish punk in Somerville tonight!

Come to the Skybar tonight - our infamous CHAOS PARLOR - with the bands Auditory Implant, Await Rescue, and The Swaggering Growlers. Now, the Swaggering Growlers are a little odd - raucous Irish punk in the vein of The Pogues, but a little less polished and more in-your-face!

The Swaggerin' Growlers are a Irish Folk Punk Band out of The Seacoast region of New Hampshire. We'll sort of, we managed to pick up a drummer from Worcester, MA, and a Banjo player from Hartford, CT. We hope to write and perform music that will either sway your heart, or make you want to get up and dance. Realistically, we'll probabably just get drunk and party. But hey, at the very least, you're invited to the party. Just make sure to bring beer money. For all those not in the know, a Growler is a 64 ounce jug of beer. That sure as hell sounds like a good way to kick off an evening to me, wouldn't you agree? Screw bottles, we party New England style.

Ball Square bowling alley

Has anyone here ever been inside the Ball Square bowling alley? It's on Boston Avenue, on the Medford side of the square. When I've occasionally walked by it, it never seemed to be open, and no hours were posted on the door. It is not listed under "Bowling" in the Verizon or Yellow Book directories. When I call its phone number, (781) 306-0716, I hear one or two rings followed by silence (not even a click).

Is this place actually open? If so, when?
