Davis-area video stores

I'm probably the last one on my block to buy a DVD player. But now that I have it, I'm interested in hearing people's opinions of local video rental stores.

It looks like we have three choices: Hollywood Express on Elm Street, West Coast Video across the street, and Blockbuster in Porter Square.
My first impressions:

Hollywood Express -- largest selection, best chance of finding something obscure

Blockbuster - very liberal rental terms: a '2 day' rental is really 9 days, a 7-day is really 14 days. A lot more foreign and independent films than I would have expected, though probably not in the same league as Hollywood Express

West Coast Video -- why is this store still in business? I don't see any obvious reason to go here.

Does anyone know what in the holy hell is going on in the blocks from Elm to Orchard and down to Miller Street?? My street was blocked off by cop cars for two blocks, and there are paddywagons, fire trucks, EMT vehicles and so forth everywhere in that area. I asked one of them if I could park nearby and what was going on and predictably, he said, "Go around. You don't want to be here right now. Nothing's happened." No, of course nothing's happened, asshole, that's why there are about 40 city officials milling around flashing their lights.

Auditions at Theatre@First

Theatre@First is holding open auditions for our Third Annual Festival of One-Acts. Many diverse roles need to be filled. Auditions are May 16 and 17, and the festival will be staged the weekends of July 15 and 22.

Fabric stores

What are some good local fabric stores? ("Good," in this case, meaning reasonable prices with wide selection.) I have a car, but I'm fine with taking the T and lugging a bag home.

I'll be doing some belly dance costuming, so funky fabrics might be necessary. I already hit Sew-fisticated, which can be limited in selection, but cheap, and will be heading to Sew-Low later.

Or should I look farther afield than the Somerville area and just head to Chinatown?
