Martsa on Elm has a sign saying that it will close September 17 for expansion, presumably into the adjoining former Bhoja Cafe space. Martsa will reopen "the second week in October".

Is it on for today or is it knocked out because of the crap weather?

Hello Davis Square:

I've already posted this on the Somerville4Schools list, and thought I'd try here too.

I am very much hoping to send our oldest child to Somerville Public Schools in the fall of 2008.

I was wondering if there are other parents of PRE-kindergarteners who would like to form an informal discussion/support/advocacy group. The purpose would be to:
- Share and discuss information, concerns and ideas about enrolling our kids in 2008 (or '09 or '10!)
- Channel those concerns where appropriate to the School Committee and Administration
- Get a head start on involvement and advocacy in the school system. Begin thinking about the schools as “our” schools now instead of waiting passively for April enrollment.
- Encourage and support each other to find solutions within the Somerville Public School system instead of departing.

I took my cat to Porter Square Vet about a month ago because she had a severe UTI. They gave her antibiotics without doing any tests and the symptoms went away. Exactly 7 days after I stopped giving her the medicine (I followed the directions very carefully, mind you), her symptoms returned. I called them and they gave me another week's worth of antibiotics. I gave them to her, and again the symptoms went away, and now, 7 days later, they're back again. I called again and they once again offered to refill the antibiotics.

Does this sound strange to anyone? Does anyone have relevent experiences to share about Porter Square Vet and why they're ok/not ok? I declined the antibiotics and made an appointment for Tuesday because I want them to ACTUALLY look at her.

On a side note, has anyone had a problem like this with their cat? I've tried changing litters. I've gone through pine and wheat. I thought if pine was irritating her, wheat would be ok. I haven't heard anything bad about either.

Thanks in advance for any responses!

I just called the Cambridge Health Alliance Mental Health emergency services and wanted to check myself in. Before I went in, I wanted to be assured that they wouldn't drug me without my consent. The woman said that she could not "arbitrarily" assure me of that, got angry with me, and actually hung up on me while I was crying. (Seriously.)

So I'm kind of in need of finding some place local that doesn't drug people without consent, and that might have some staff that don't actively try to be mean to depressed individuals looking for help...

Any suggestions?

I also don't have any health insurance or money.

(No, I'm not officially suicidal yet, but I'd rather get this taken care of before that happens, you know?)
