Thanks for all the interest. It is very heartening. Like I said, it will be small and informal, this is my first workshop in this area so I am calling out to my local community and trying to pick the best location.

Based on the responses, I am planning for Sunday (11am?). Location is TBD, I am open to suggestions (in the comments please).

I would like to video tape this workshop to analyze it for a graduate class I am taking. Confidentiality will be maintained.

Please email mastercomposter AT gmail DOT com with your availability on Sunday if you think you can make it.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good bankruptcy attorney? I checked the tags under "legal", but no dice.

I finally got a chance to check out Kick Ass Cupcakes at 378 Highland. Very tasty! And the place looks really nice and all fixed up. It's hard to believe that it used to be Rock City Guitars.

In that block of retail, the three middle storefronts are still empty, but I noticed some people doing construction in the space where Alex Pizza was and Out of the Blue was before that. Anyone have any idea what's going in there? Just curious! I tried to poke my head in and ask but no luck getting anyone's attention.

A few months ago, a webcomic called xkcd published this strip in which a character's dream includes a very specific set of location and time coordinates. The spatial coordinates happen to resolve to the tiny Reverend Thomas J. Williams Park on Cedar St in North Cambridge, a few blocks from Davis Square. The time is 2:38 pm on September 23, 2007 -- this coming Sunday.

Some of the widely dispersed fans of this comic strip took this as a cue to organize a meetup at that location and time, which resulted in the creation of first the [livejournal.com profile] xkcd_meetup_07 LJ community and then this bulletin board. Supposedly there are also MySpace and Facebook pages for this event, but I don't know anything about them. People are planning to converge on this park from all over the USA and beyond.

When the assembled multitude discover that they don't fit in the park, many of them will probably head off to nearby Danehy Park, while others find their way to Davis Square. Should be an interesting day....

I just walked by it today and there were a few people in there. Didn't stop by to check the menu or anything though. Might go this week sometime.

My wife and I live on Cedar Street and we are becoming increasingly disturbed by the speed that cars pass through this corridor between Broadway and the bike path.  If you have ever been down Cedar, you will notice that the center yellow line has been painted over, thus giving evidence that the street was not engineered for the two way traffic PLUS parking that exists today.  We have emailed the police department to see if we could get increased patrols in the area for speeding, but we only got one of those signs that tells you how fast you are going.  Yes, we know that we live on a busy street and should deal with it, but the minute someone gets injured crossing the street it will be too late. We are interested to see if anyone has suggestions on how we can get the city to add traffic calming measures here and elsewhere in the city.  Cambridge does it (especially around school zones), but Somerville seems to be lacking in this area.  Any thoughts?

Next Tuesday, September 25, Somerville will hold a preliminary election. Voters citywide will choose a candidate for Mayor. Residents of Ward 6 (the area around Davis Square) will also choose a candidate for ward alderman. Polls are open from 7 am to 8 pm. This page will tell you where to vote, and what ward you live in.

Three candidates are running for each of these offices. The top two finishers next week will move on to the general election on November 6.
