Can anyone recommend a place to buy some decorative mistletoe around here? Real or fake. Preferably fake. I'm having a heck of a time finding it.

Following the discussion about Google Streetview vs. privacy, some may be interested in the haha brouing over at the Villeside Journal site.   One of the intrepid reporters took a video camera to the Tufts Naked Quad Run and posted it on Youtube.   Drunk streakers were not amused.

Hoping to do a good deed this holiday season, but not sure what where to direct your random act of kindness? The Somerville Homeless Coalition (SHC) would be elated to get a donation from you! Here are some things our clients said they would absolutely love:

- Gift Card to Dunkin' Donuts or Starbucks

- Movie Tickets, especially to The Somerville Theatre

- Gift Certificate to a Davis Square restaurant (Johnny D’s, The Joshua Tree, etc.)

[Because the shelter has a lock-out policy between 8AM and 4PM, these gift cards not only give our folks something fun to do or delicious to eat, they also give them a warm place to be for an hour or two.]

- Gift Card to Target

[A gift card to Target allows our shelter guests to purchase some essential personal items as they get on their feet and secure permanent housing.]

- Charlie Card

[$10 or $15 on a Charlie Card would be just perfect in case someone in the shelter has an emergency need for transportation.]

- First Night Button

[At least one of our shelter guests has never been and would love to go. It's a great gift for our folks who are looking for a safe and sober New Year's activity.]

You can drop these donations off or mail them to our office at 237A Highland Ave., Somerville, MA 02143.

Of course, the SHC is also always in need and incredibly appreciative of monetary donations. Just visit www.somervillehomelesscoalition.org and click on the upper lefthand corner.

If you aren't in a position to donate a gift, just keep our wonderful shelter guests in your thoughts, and know that you and all of our great friends and neighbors across Greater Somerville are always in ours! Happy holidays!

I just received this from the Somerville's snow-alert mailing list:

Based on current weather projections, the City of Somerville will be declaring a snow emergency effective at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 13th. During snow emergencies, parking is allowed on the odd-numbered side of the street only (unless otherwise posted). Cars not moved by 2 p.m. today may be subject to ticketing and towing. Residents unable to find a parking space on the odd-numbered side of the street may park in any municipal lot or, after 3 p.m., in designated school parking lots. Afternoon and evening school activities in Somerville have been cancelled. For additional information, please call the city’s 311 constituent service line, which may also be reach outside the city by dialing 617-666-3311 – or visit the city’s website at www.ci.somerville.ma.us. Thank you.
