This is technically out of the square, so moderators feel free to take this down if you feel it is inappropriate.  But I thought Davis Square residents might be interested, because it is a five minute walk from the square.

Porter Square Books has a bimonthly poetry reading followed by an open mic tonight starting at 7pm.  The featured poets are from local writing and poetry graduate programs, so it is a nice way also to support local students.  It is of course free!

Enjoy!

Hi! I am new to this community. On Tuesday I'll be driving into Davis Square for a job interview and am wondering how easy it'll be to find parking? Any suggestions on where to park? Taking the T would be my ideal way to get into Davis Square but I'm not sure that's a feasible option (due to time constraints that day).

Thanks!

I just got an LJ message from [livejournal.com profile] jspazzer, wishing to do a "Best of Davis Square: Coffee" poll.

Instead of creating a poll and deleting it because I'm going to leave one two places out, I thought I would ask first (and then maybe delete this post). I can only think of 4 "true" coffee shops: Diesel, Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, and Au Bon Pain. Am I leaving something out?

If not, I'll create the poll.

I want to take a Java class, but I'm having trouble finding one that is both short enough and cheap enough to suit my needs. I've got a programming background, already know object orientated programming (C++), and already have rudimentary java skills. I need a class that will teach me things like how to make buttons properly interact with command line output, etc. I'd like a class of 2-3 days, or something in the evenings. I think I can get work to pay for it, but it should still be less than 1K.

Any thoughts?
