OK, so I'm moving from the Davis area to Central Sq. in Cambridge on Saturday June 14th. I can move most of my stuff myself with the help of my friends. However I'm possibly looking to hire a couple of strong people to help me out with doing the real heavy lifting like the futon/dresser, etc.

My problem is that I don't think this is a big enough job to hire professional movers with a giant truck, but I know with the help I have now I can't do it on my own.

Are there any area services where I can rent somebody to help me for an hour or two? I don't even need a truck because I can rent a U-Hal van, I just need a couple of strong people that can do the lifting. Is anybody out there in LJ land looking to get some exercise and make a few bucks next weekend?

Any ideas would be much appreciated!

About a block from Cedar and Elm, I have one room available for July 1, and one available September 1 or 'on about 3 weeks notice' (so it could also be available July 1 if really wanted). It's a typical 3-bedroom Somerville flat, on a very convenient private lane.

The rent is $633 until September 1, and $650 after. Includes laundry, dishwasher. The electric and gas come to about $40 a month. The heat is oil, the landlord is doing an assessment about converting it to electric (the rest of the building is electric, and the plans have always been for this unit to go that way). We have Comcast currently for wireless, it's about $30 a month for tv and internet. House is fully furnished, but not with anything I'm greatly attached to; so if you have your own furniture, I'm happy to talk. There's also basement storage, and a great porch.

I would prefer someone who is looking for a place to live, not a temp (students are fine, as long as you've lived in a place a time or two; I've discovered I'm done with training shiny newbies). I'm not a naturally tidy person, my room is often a disaster, but I am very keen on keeping shared spaces tidy. I cook a lot, and well, and share. I'm more than a little geeky.

One cat lives here already. He is....uhm. If he were a human, he would be called eccentric. He has two modes with other cats; they're his best friends, or he makes their lives living hell. It's sort of a crapshoot. If you have a cat who is friendly and boisterous, they'll probably get along great. If your cat would read Victorian poets and stares mournfully out of windows at falling rain, he'll bully the hell out of them.

I'm swamped for the weekend, but can show it Monday and Tuesday, all day/night. Send mail to thespian at sleepingcat dot com. Thanks.

there is a large brick building with boarded over windows on willow ave between highland and the bike path.  it has a card swipe entry thing on the door but there are no signs and i've never seen anyone or any cars there.

does anyone know what this building is?  it occupies a large chunk of land, most of which is weeds and broken pavement.  it seems like it would be a nice place for a community garden.
