EDIT:  Simon is home safe as of this morning!  We left the back door open and put out some food in the hopes that he would find his way home and he did.   Thank you all for your help!  We're very relieved he's ok.

Please help us find our kitty Simon!  He went missing out our back porch door late on Saturday night near 78 Prichard Ave in  Somerville.

Our Simon is 11 and has never been outdoors. He’s a shy one who’s probably stuffed himself under a car or porch somewhere nearby. Please keep an eye out for him, look under your porches, and call us if you see him.  Thank you for your help!

Did anyone else see the car parked in the middle of Davis Square Plaza last night? I think it was a commercial for some Ford hybrid, but it sure took up a lot of space in a crowded square for an advertisement. Here's what I wrote to Rebekah. I hope that if you saw the car and were disturbed by it, either for the space it took up or for the precedent of advertising in our public space, you will write to her too.

Hi Rebekah. There was a car in the middle of Davis Square last night, and not on the street. It was, as far as I can tell, an advertisement for Ford parked in the middle of our public space. I'm not sure what the story with it is, perhaps it was somehow related to the film festival at the Somerville Theater, but whatever the reason, I'm really disturbed by it. The last thing we need is a big advertisement smack in the middle of our central space. It's really out of character with the Square, and puts commercial interests ahead of those of residents and visitors, the pedestrians for whom the Square was specifically designed. The car took up a huge amount of prime space, right where the musicians typically play, on a beautiful night when the Square was already quite crowded. I don't know what kind of permits were required for last night's car commercial in the Square, but I very much hope that they are not issued again for advertising. If no permits were required, and anyone can park a car or other large commercial billboard in the middle of the Square, that needs to be fixed. If this kind of thing is planned again, community should be invited so that we can together decide the future direction of our public space.

As I emerge from the fog of my own personal film watching overload (6 films yesterday at the IFFB), it's time to write the final chapter of neighborhood film watching from our friends at Tufts. They have a few films before they wrap up finals over the next week or so and then it will be quiet until September.

I'll see you in the Fall for more free films.

Tufts Film Series screens "The Wrestler" tonight and will show "The Sandlot" outdoors on the the Rez Quad on Monday.

Other highlights:

* Tufts will screen "Ghana Gold III" on Monday.
* The Tufts German House will show their final movie of the semester, "Das Leben der Anderen" on Monday.
* There will be a screening of the Korean film "The Crossing" on Tuesday.
Coming attractions... )

We are looking for someone to take over our lease on July 1. There may be an option to renew with our landlord on September 1. This is a wonderful spacious apartment that we’d love to stay in, but need to move closer to our jobs.

It's about a 10-15 minute walk from Davis square, right near the Somerville border. On-street parking. Right next to Tufts science building and athletic fields.

Top floor of a two story house. Two bedrooms with closets for clothing, living room, dining room, pantry, office, front porch, back deck, back yard, laundry and storage int he basement. On-street parking with a permit. They allow pets at an extra cost. I have more pictures.

No utilities included, run an average of $100 - $150 per person a month, year round. We had heat (forced air, oil) on a budget. Email me with any questions or if you want to come see it - if you want to take the place we'll setup a meeting with the landlord.
