RUMMAGE SALE this Sunday August 30!

This Sunday from 12-4, the First Congregational Church of Somerville, located at 89 College Ave will be holding a Rummage Sale to support the Casa San Jose Orphanage in Colima, Mexico. The Casa San Jose is home to approximately 120 children between the ages of 2-18. The Casa feeds, clothes and schools the children with minimal funding from the government and relies primarily on donated funds. First Church regularly sends monetary funds to the Casa and once every two years sends members from the church to volunteer there.

At the RUMMAGE SALE there will be items of all types-books, furniture, household items, clothing. There will be a bake sale too with plenty of homemade goodies and lemonade!

As part of First Church's wider mission, we strive to promote justice in the local and global community. In addition to the Casa San Jose, we also support several other local and global justice efforts. Location: 386 Highland Ave. (right across from Your Move Games and All Boston Apartments)

What: Lots of big things (small-medium sized drafting table, bike/ ski rack for the top of a car, Ikea arm chair, Ikea area rug, Sony flat screen computer monitor, mountain bike, stereo speakers, and more) and lots of small things (french press, iron, plastic cat bowls, and more)

Who Works in Davis?

I've been job hunting for the last 2 weeks (Damn lay-offs. Damn them.), and every job I've applied to was either in Cambridge or Boston. I didn't see even one corporate listing in Somerville, at least not in my job category. But I do see what look like office workers here during the day. I've never been inside the handful of office buildings in or around Davis, and I was thinking of popping in to see what companies/organizations occupy them so I could check their websites' career pages. But I thought I'd ask here: does anyone know of any corporate entities or healthy non-profits based in the greater Davis area? Being in administration I can work in lots of industries. Just curious if any of you work an office job in Davis, or know someone who does.

Old School iPod for sale

Hello all, I am selling my Old Schol iPod 2 GB. I have new one and I don't have any use for my old one. It's in great condition, except it has a hump where you can unlock and lock it. I'm pretty sure it's fixable if you go to Best Buy or the Apple store. It still locks, still plays music, and it's once again, in great shape. Selling it for $100 or best offer. Thanks!

Also, I'm selling my White iBook G4 Laptop as well. Works great, just don't need it. $250 or best offer.

Fly infestation

I came home from a 12-hour day at work to find that the 4 or 5 flies that were in my house when I left this morning had multiplied and freaking taken over. There are easily 50 flies in my kitchen and dining room; possibly more like 100. Not fruit flies, flies.

So I turn to the wisdom of you, internet. Has this happened to you? What did you do? Is there any way to figure out where the hell they all came from? My roommate and I are very clean, I swear -- we take the garbage out, we keep all our food wrapped, the compost lives outside...

I bought hanging sticky traps, but I don't think they're going to cut it. UV traps are $50 a pop, so I want to know they're going to be awesome before I spend the money. (Or maybe you have one I could borrow?) I don't want to spray insecticide in my kitchen if there's any other way. Is there any non-toxic spray I could use?

Please, please help. I'm so grossed out right now I can't even tell you.
