My prescription sunglasses broke, so it's time to get the new glasses that I've been putting off and a new pair of regular frames too. I usually go to Lenscrafters, but was thinking of looking around a little. For those of you who wear glasses, where have you found the best selection and most helpful sales folks? Any recommendations in Cambridge/Somerville would be great, a little further afield is fine too. Thanks!

Next Friday and Saturday - October 16th and 17th - our very own friendly neighborhood comic book store Comicazi will be opening its back room for you to sift through 200 long boxes of comics! They're all organized and alphabetized and ALL $2! There’s tons of Daredevil, Batman, X-books, Spidey, Superman, Bronze Age books, manga, adult, Judge Dredd, Image books, Star Wars, and more! Action figures and toys as well!

Friday night the 16th admission is $10 and you can be among the very first to pillage these comics! Time runs from 7pm to 10pm. If you can't make it on Friday, come on by the next day, the 17th, from 12pm to 5pm and admission will be free! That is, if there are any comics left from the night before!

So get your geek on, folks. Come help out a local store and find that one issue of Spawn you didn't know you couldn't live without.

I am a recent convert to the Boston fire spinning community, and am looking to have some backyard performances in the near future. Does anyone know how the Somerville police and fire departments react to such things?

Performance details:
* All performances on paved back yard area
* No street visibility
* All adjacent neighbors are aware, and have consented for the proposed date
* Poi, staff, fans, and hoop expected
* Single experienced performer at a time - sober of course
* Experienced safety watching that performer, also sober
* Duvetyn or thick wool blanket for smothering fire
* Two fire extinguishers present (made for flammable liquid fires)
* Secure fueling area
** fuel in empty unused paint can, nested in a bigger bucket
** wall or at least plywood in front of the fueling area to prevent a spark hitting the fuel
** fueling area separate from fire area

I expect there to be 30-50 people present, so that might attract attention in itself.

I popped in to the new Buffalo Exchange (where the video store used to be) today on my way elsewhere. To my surprise (because I hate shopping except online) I walked out 20 minutes later with a virtually new pair of Timberland boots for $32, a Star Trek T-shirt for $6.50, and the perfect costume blouse for the show I'm in for $13. Not exactly the bargain that Goodwill is, but it would be impossible to say that I wasn't delighted.

I hadn't wanted another chain store here, but if we had to have one, this one seems fairly useful and non-disruptive to me. You can sell them your old clothes and shoes, though I don't know what they pay. After I got home I found a coupon on their website good through the end of the month.

Hi Everyone,

I just moved here and have a few questions about the neighborhood.

I noticed there are a few sushi restaurants in Davis Square, would anyone care to give me a recommendation?

I have been a nanny for the last 3 years in Portland for two small children under 5.  Is there an agency for nannies in Somerville or is anyone looking for help?

My references  and English are excellent and I can start right away.

Thank you,
Yi
