The Longest Night Service, Christian this year, Monday, 12/14@7PM

Dear Neighbors,

Many of the churches in Davis Sq. come together each year, close to solstice, to celebrate the turn of the year, to name in quiet reflection, the concerns that come to us in the dark.

This annual Davis Sq. Longest Night service will be Monday, 12/14 at 7 PM and will be hosted by the Cambridge Welcoming Ministries @ the College Ave. Methodist Church.

The service will be led by Judy Kohatsu, Tiffany Steinwert, Vic Scalesi, Karl Gustafson, Betty Walker, and me, some of the Davis Sq. clergy.

Elke Jahns will pay her flutes. We will sing some music from Taize, spend some time in silence, read scripture, and pray for the coming of the light. Our service will be Christian in style and content. All are welcome, of course.

We'd love to see you there. Monday, 12/14, 7PM.

Snow emergency mailings

Is the snow emergency email system the same as last year? The reason I ask is because I referred a friend to the link on the city website to sign up for email notifications, and it says that the "service has been discontinued" and that you need to sign up for the CTY Connect service.

Where is Tom Champion?

It's snowing, but no phone call from Tom Champion. Without his voice recordings, things are not the same during a gloomy day such as this one. Is he mad at us? Should I call 311? :)

Signing up for city email alerts

To expand upon an earlier post, I can't figure out how to sign up for the Connect-CTY Notifications on the City of Somerville website. I think I'm following a logical path, but please correct me if I'm wrong. From the homepage, I click on "Signup for Connect-CTY Notifications and View Previous Messages" under the City Spotlight section. Then I click on "All Messages" under Connect-CTY Notifications and Alerts Signup. Then it brings me to a screen where I can log in to report a problem. I don't want to report a problem, I just want to get alerts!

I'm already a registered user in the Connect-CTY system and have not received any email alerts in the year or so that I've been registered. Any suggestions?

The short description is good food, good music, and good performance.

We're hosting a dinner theater event focused on themes around
work and labor just outside of Davis Square at 339R Summer
St Somerville, MA. We will provide drinks, spaghetti, and
performers and ask for a $10 donation to cover costs and pay
performers.
