Had it with Boston weather, brand-name hipsters, bad news, and the same music you heard last week and the week before? For a donation of $15 (or just whatever you can manage) you can spend Sunday afternoon the 28th (tomorrow!) in an Eastern fantasy paradise! Hafli for Haiti will transform the Dilboy VFW post in Davis Square into the hottest bellydance party in town from 3:00 to 6:30. Take in some gorgeous performances, shop at a bazaar of local vendors, pick up some fresh-baked goodies to bring home, get a Tarot reading, and let yourself be tempted by a tantalizing array of prizes - all for the benefit of Partners in Health, who are working miracles for the sick and injured in Haiti and have been for over 20 years. Our friendly VFW bartenders will be on hand to keep your thirst under control, so join us at the hottest spot in town!

Folks here probably already know that Farmers' Bounty recently got a license to sell alcohol. The manager of Farmer's Bounty is going to be ordering a bunch of beers in the next few days but doesn't seem to be a much of a beer drinker himself. The selection won't be as wide as Downtown but it should be at pretty reasonable prices. My neighbor and I are helping me him pick out beers. The stuff that is available everywhere from the big distributors (i.e., Bud, Miller, Heineken, etc.) will almost definitely be there.

If folks here anticipate shopping there, post here with suggestions of things that you and people and you know will buy if he orders them and we'll relay a summary of the thread in the next day or so.

I thought they were supposed to stick around until March, but the store was already closed when I walked by it a half hour ago. Signs in the windows tell customers to go to the 7-11 at Broadway and Cedar.

The coolers are still filled with soda, so this closing must have been quite recent. Did they have any kind of going-away event for their loyal customers?

(Earlier posts here and here.)
