anyone have any ideas where i could get a swim cap? I am carless and home with a baby today, so being nearby or T accessible would be very good. I don't mind walking as far as say Porter or over to Alewife.... maybe citysports? Marshalls?

Google doesn't know of a "Great Trees of Somerville Project". Anyone here know about this? Are there other trees in town with similar plaques?

Davis Square Farmers Market opens today!

It's open Wednesdays noon-6pm in the parking lot at Day and Herbert streets.

Best route to Mass Pike at rush hour?

So I just got a job offer for a job that would require me to take the pike out to Framingham area every morning. I've never actually tried to get to the pike (I'm in Ball Square area) in the morning, and wondered if anybody had favored routes?

Pizzeria Posto wants to expand, Diva wants its 2am license back

Pizzeria Posto is applying to increase its indoor seating capacity from the current 50 seats to 98 seats, and also to allow serving alcoholic beverages at the 20 seasonal outdoor seats. There will be three public hearings:

June 3 at the Planning Board (City Hall, 6 pm)
June 16 at the Zoning Board of Appeal (City Hall, 6 pm)
June 21 at the Licensing Commission (at the TAB building, 6 pm)

Diva is applying to reinstate its 2 AM-closing liquor license, which it surrendered after a patron was shot outside the restaurant in February 2009. (Short followup post here.) The Licensing Commission hearing will be Monday, June 21 at 6 pm at the TAB building.

Apartment and Room for Rent

I've got a 2 bedroom apartment with early June availability, and a room in a shared house for rent with August availability. Not in Davis Square proper, but a hop, skip, and a jump over by Tufts. (This is the 1st floor unit of my duplex, and a spare room in the upper unit.)

The 2 bedroom Apartment is newly renovated (move in date is subject to when they finish), 5 rooms, basement storage.

The Room is in an existing 2-person, geek household. We're looking for someone interested in sharing meals and hanging out on a semi-regular basis.

We're right on the 101, 95, and 96 routes, and a short walk to 94, 80, and any buses in Medford Square.
