I'm wondering if anybody has seen Canus goats milk soap anywhere local other than Shaws. I've been buying it there, but for reasons talked about in an earlier DS post, I'd prefer not to shop there.

Thanks

I have three furniture sets lined up to buy off of craigslist for our new apartment - a sofa, and two oversized chairs with ottomans (and yes, I've screened for bedbugs :)). I guess technically, the movers would really need something bigger than a van, as these are not little pieces.

Anyone know of a mover who could help me out? Our actual move date is the 22nd, but we should have the keys to our new place by the 9th or 10th, so anytime between those dates would work.

Thanks!

If someone felt like being a random goodnik, could they please dial 311 and report an open and unattended fire hydrant at the corner of Willow and Lexington, and then leave a comment here after doing so?

My cellphone doesn't want to talk to 311 right now, and I have no landline.

Done! Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] m_b_w.

I am in search of gently used stuffed animals, for use in an art project. I have hit most of the local thrift stores and discount stores to little effect, largely because of the law that Massachusetts passed last year making it difficult for places like Goodwill and Salvation Army to resell used children's clothing or toys. If you have been doing any weeding of your children's toys and wouldn't mind said toys being repurposed for artistic endeavors, please let me know! I will be happy to come and collected them from you.

Ok, wrong airline, but http://jetblue.com/ was here in Boston earlier, passing out vouchers for free round-trip tickets to celebrate their 10th anniversary. Those of you who are Twitter-savvy might remember it.

I have one of the vouchers. However, due to some things popping up, I can't use it. I need the cash more than I need the flight.

Here's the deal- it is good for a single round-trip ticket to anywhere they fly, provided there are still seats available for these promo tix. You have to call Jet Blue to redeem it and it must be redeemed by June 16th and is only good for flights out of Boston departing before June 16th and must be completed by June 23rd. So if you have a hankering to GTFO of Boston for the weekend to LA (maybe you want to score Celts tix at the Forum and need to get there) or want to go to the Dominican Republic for some R&R, here's your chance to do it on the cheap. This voucher is good for anywhere Jet Blue goes, again, depending upon if there are available seats.

The fine print tells me that you must pay all taxes/fees etc for the flight.

I am asking $250 cash for the voucher. Before the transaction's complete, we can call Jet Blue to confirm that this is not a scam and that the voucher's legit.

Drop me an email, stevezak at gmail dot com if you are interested.

I'll be splitting town for NJ and our apartment will be open as of July 1, possibly a few days earlier. It's on Marshall St in the Winter Hill area, located halfway down the street bounded by Broadway and Pearl Street. It's a 3rd floor apartment, good-sized kitchen, medium sized living room, a medium sized bedroom, and a 2nd large room that we used as our kid's bedroom- it doesn't have a door so to create privacy for her, we made a fabric wall. There's basement storage and storage in the hallway as well.

It's a converted attic space so the walls are slanted in several of the rooms. The bathroom's nice and big with great water pressure. The gas stove and big refrigerator are fairly new and are nice.

The rent is $1200/month and includes heat/hot water, as well as a single no-permit needed parking space in a private rear lot of the building. I didn't have a lease- it was month-to-month/tenant-at-will and I think it will remain that way. I only paid first/last when I took the place.

The location's not bad- there are buses that can take you to Sullivan on one corner, and a bus on the opposite end to go to Lechmere. You can walk to the Market Basket or Stop & Shop. The landlord's son lives in the first floor and if I've had a problem, he's taken care of it right away.

Drop me a line if you're interested.

Artisan's Asylum is having a few fundraising/showing off the space/meeting other people events in the next couple weeks leading up to the grand opening on June 18.

All of these events will be at the big workshop space at 13 Joy St., right outside of Union Square. The Asylum is on the 2nd floor of the building.

This Saturday, June 5, from noon to 3pm, is a hacker flea market and silent auction. details )

Sunday, June 6, from noon to 3pm, everything we tried to sell on Saturday that didn't go will be available for the great price of TAKING IT AWAY. Please help us clear the space out! Facebook details, though really it's much the same as the auction/flea market.

Saturday, June 12, from noon to 7:30pm, Help paint a 4,000 square foot mural! Right now, the interior walls are kind of boring. And there is a LOT of space to paint on. details )

hey all,
I currently live in the Somerville area, plan on moving around the end of August and I have a tone of stuff that needs to go.
I've been shopping around for trash removal people, though I am still not having much luck.
I have 2 old TV's, a poor quality pool table, one dead dell PC and a couple of monitors.
Can I get a recommendation of where I can donate or dispose of these items?
Thanks

Hi,

I haven't had much luck asking members of this community about rents in Somerville, particularly around Davis Square.

Can someone tell me if the rents are always 1200+?

If so, can someone tell me a nearby area where the rents would be lower and a bit more reasonable?

I'd really like to put a cover over my car, but there's that whole issue of needing to show my parking permit, and probably license plate, when its parked on the street. Has anybody found a way to make a car cover street-legal, perhaps one that has cut-outs to expose plates, permits, etc?
