Just an FYI:

So I'm sitting out on my porch a little while ago (just after midnight) on Henry Avenue, and this group of mid-to-late teens (about 6 or 7 of them) come ambling down the street, trying to break into each car.  (Part of me was like, wait, you don't SEE ME sitting here smoking my cigarette and reading my book?  WTH?)

After they turned the corner onto Lexington and were out of earshot, I called the Somerville police non-emergency line, and within three or four minutes, two cop cars were in the area.  (Well done on the response, SPD!)

Just a friendly reminder to lock all doors and remove valuables from your vehicle!

This has us pretty upset, so wondering if someone has expertise or advice on this kind of thing... We rent in Davis and back in May we had an offer accepted on a condo in the area and made a $1k standard deposit, which was accepted. We then proceeded with the inspection which uncovered significant issues with the unit, and rather than negotiate further we backed out based on the inspection. The seller's accepted our backing out based on the items we found.

The problem is we can't get our deposit back from the seller's agent, because they claim there was paint damage done while removing an electrical panel during the inspection. And they refuse to contact our inspector about it or provide any evidence.

I'm attempting to buy a used car and sell my old car, and cannot figure out how one is supposed to manage the logistics of having two cars and only one registration, especially in Somerville with the draconian parking rules. I understand that it isn't legal to park a car with no plates on the street, even with my visitor permit in the dashboard? Nor, of course, is it legal to put one plate on each car. So what do those of us who aren't lucky enough to have private driveways do??

and btw, if anyone's interested in a '98 Subaru wagon in decent condition, feel free to drop me a line. preferably asap ;)

As I am getting down to the two week mark and am getting incredibly nervous about moving, I'm here asking for a little help. I need a room September 1st. I am a good roommate, but I have a (good and well mannered) dog and that seems to be the big issue. I've been working Craigslist over for the last few months, but I rarely get replies.

Here's a run down of all of my other requirements, but cut so as not to bog down the community with another renter's post.

Thanks for reading. I want to live in the Davis area, but will take referrals elsewhere because I'm running out of time.
