Long time reader, first time commenter.

I was wondering if anyone else has had any packages stolen off of their porches recently.  On Monday, I had 2 packages delivered (by UPS and DHL) around 1pm and by the time I got home at 5:30p, both were gone.  It seems that they were left right out in the open (I live on a busy cut-through street right outside of Davis, heading towards Powder House Square) so anything on the porch is visible.  Has anyone had any luck in getting UPS to deliver to the back?  I know people have mentioned before that they have locked boxes on the porch, but sometimes I get larger boxes so not sure this is an option.  UPS used to come at 5pm and he would hide the packages if we were not home so this hasn't been a problem as much in the past.

Please join the Somerville Bicycle Committee on Saturday evening, Dec 18, to celebrate the coming of winter and year round cycling. We will enjoy a casual bike tour to see some of the city's homes warmly lit for the holidays.

We will meet at the Somerville High School entrance at 6:50pm, departing promptly at 7:15 pm.
We will tour the city in coordination with the Somerville Arts Council's Illuminations Holiday Tour. The start of our ride is scheduled halfway between two trolley departures, so we will not interfere with the trolley tour.

This is a winter evening ride, so please dress warmly and use bike lights.

Dear Davis Square,

Can anyone recommend a reliable (and, if that's not the impossible dream) reasonably priced pet-sitter? I am going to be out of town from the 24th through the 28th, and I need a responsible individual to come in, give kitty fresh food and water, and change her litterbox if possible. (Pet sitters may refuse to change litterboxes--I admit I'm on terra incognita here.)

I'm about to go looking on Craigs List, but thought I would inquire if any of you have recommendations. Thanks and may your holidaze be tranquil (or a wild blitz of nonstop crazy fun 'n' games, if that's your trip).
