Surviving 4 years in a spot that had been one of the "restaurant locales of doom", Sagra is shutting down and a new restaurant, Five Horses Tavern, will take its place (described by a detractor as "burgers and wings and a whole lot of beer").

I just wrote up a thing about the Rosie's on Mass Ave expanding their soup & sandwich menu, plus they have breakfast now. Also a small slide show:

Got this from my neighborhood Yahoo group; notice originated from Tufts:

A Tufts student reported to the Tufts Police he had been the victim of an attempted robbery on February 28th at approximately 10:45 pm: While walking back to campus on Wallace Street approaching Broadway, he was approached from behind by a suspect who indicated he had a gun (no weapon was shown). The suspect demanded that he hand over his backpack. The victim turned and exchanged punches with the suspect who fled the scene towards Holland Street. No property was taken and the victim was not seriously injured.

The victim described the suspect as follows: a light-skinned Black or Hispanic male, approximately 5'7" to 5'8" tall. The suspect was described as wearing a dark colored "hoodie" sweatshirt, dark pants/Indigo jeans and tan shoes or boots.

* Report any suspicious person(s) or circumstances to the Tufts Police immediately at X66911 (617-627-6911 from off-campus or a cell phone).
* Program the Tufts Police into your cell phone so you will be prepared in an emergency (617-627-6911). Or dial 911 to contact the local police.
* If you have any information on the above incident, please contact the Tufts Police as soon as possible at X73030 (617-627-3030 from off-campus or a cell phone).

From February 17 meeting minutes sent to the Porter Square Neighbors mailing list:

Mark Ostow (owner of Zing Pizza and Cafe Zing in Porter Square Books) showed up to introduce himself and to express concern over possible competition from Panera Bread, which is coming to the space previously occupied by Qdoba (and McDonald's before that) in the shopping center. Without taking a position on business competition, we thanked Mark for Zing's high quality and local ownership, and wished him continued success.
