Saying “we need an alderman who represents us at least as effectively as the parking control officers ticket us,” Joan Whitney Puglia announced her candidacy for Ward Seven Alderman.

Bicycle shops?
Apr. 26th, 2011 11:52 amI looked back through the bicycle tag about a year, and haven't seen anything too useful.
I've recently decided to replace my 25 year old bike. What local bike shops do people recommend? I know about Ace between Davis and Porter. I also work in Burlington, so I'm going to look at LLBean, the Cycle Loft in Burlington, and probably REI... what others should I make sure to look at?
I have a car, and can probably borrow a bike rack from someone if I need to, so it doesn't strictly have to be D-S...
thanks.

New craft store/workshop space in Teele
Apr. 26th, 2011 12:27 pmI don't know anything about this place but the idea sounds interesting: selling recycled materials turned into new and interesting things by local artists, and encouraging other folks to use recycled materials to make new things too:
CraftLab
They are up on Broadway a couple blocks up from Foodmaster, near the Arlington line.
And apparently they are having a grand opening during Somerville Open Studios (which is this coming weekend, if you hadn't been reminded yet. :-)
CraftLab
craftLAB is a experimental craft studio/retail space. craftLAB opened in 2011 by Suzanne Piubeni.
craftLAB is bringing back the designer/customer relationship that is missing in many big box retailers and mass produced products. Most of craftLABS products are designed in store and/or from local artists. craftLAB also holds weekly/monthy workshops to encourage the creation of new product designs.

No Fee Realty Agency?
Apr. 26th, 2011 07:00 pmI have a friend looking for a one bed in the Davis/Porter area. A while back, I believe someone mentioned a realtor who had found them a number of no-fee (or probably, owner paid the fee) apartments. I checked the tags, and no luck. Does anyone remember? General recommendations for good realty agencies in the Somerville area are also welcome!
