 Happy Spring everyone!

Now that the ground has thawed and my first bunch of flowers has emerged I'm starting to fantasize about getting outside and getting my hands dirty.  Unfortunately, I know next to nothing about how to keep a plant- any plant- alive.  And this would be my first attempt at gardening outside of the deep south where it is impossible to kill anything.

What are some favorite nurseries in the area?  Do any of them have n00b gardening classes?  Preferably ones that start with "This is dirt.  It's made up of silica and various organic compounds.  This is a shovel.  Shove it into the ground."

Thanks a lot!

Hi All,
I have 5 or 6 bags of clothes/shoes to be donated ASAP (after business hours.) Do you know where there are donation bins in the Camber-ville area?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Here's an update to our April 15th post regarding the PMRP Summer Radio Theatre auditions:

Everything you need to audition for PMRP Summer Radio Theatre is now on-line on the PMRP website! Info sheets, audition forms and sides for all available parts have been posted. Here are all the relevant links:

If you have any problems with the on-line forms or the website, or if you have any questions about the forms, sides or other aspects of the audition process, please drop us a line at auditions@pmrp.org.

We're looking forward to hearing you!

EDIT: I hate to do this, folks, but there's been a problem with our on-line Audition Form and any submissions made prior to about 2:00pm Monday seem to have been lost to the ether. You'll need to fill it out again. :-(

For several years the field right at powderhouse circle has had a chain link fence and a gate but no lock. Since last fall Tufts put up a new fence that's somewhat taller with bars and I've noticed the gate is locked. I've never seen any kind of team practicing on this field and it was really mostly only used by various people in the community for different sports. It would be unfortunate to lose this field since there aren't a ton of places like that around. Does anyone know why it's locked and if it will be that way all year?

Also I read that hogkins-curtain park will be opening this summer once the grass is established, anyone know if they have a set a date for that yet?

I noticed they are doing some work where the bike path crosses over Mass Ave in Cambridge. Are they finally going to make it easier to cross the street while staying on the path? I tried a google search and nothing came up. Anyone know any more info about this?

Any pointers to where some might be popping out soon? Thanks!

Edit: Yes, I know all about Lilac Sunday at the Arboretum. I was wondering if anyone knows of a particular lilac bush on a particular corner or whatever that I can monitor till it starts putting out those tiny tiny buds.
