Yesterday's Somerville Journal has a front-page article about the new bookstore and its owner:

Former truck driver opens bookstore in Somerville's Ball Square

His aunt owned Annie's Books in Belmont and wanted to close it, so he took it over and moved it to Ball Square with a new name -- The Book Shop: Your Neighborhood Bookstore. Hours are 9 am to 7 pm weekdays, 9 am to 5 pm weekends.

(Earlier discussions of this store are here and here.)

The Jazz and Blues Fest at Powder House Park and the Family Fun Day at Trum Field have both been postponed to Sunday, according to this brief note on the city website.

(Sunday's weather forecast is much better than Saturday's.)

Volvo owners in the area know that Swanson Auto is the right place for weird problems. Since Volvo almost brought me to bankruptcy I switched to a Subaru and now I'm looking for the local subaru magician. Where do you take your outback?

PS: for people who wonder about subarus and their bumper stickers - the dealers have tons of free stickers so you can put on your habitat for humility sticker before leaving the car lot.

Come one, come all: the greatest yard sale of the summer is here, with the most dynamic wares at obscenely low, first-world prices. This is the great stuff of people who are tired of stuff. There will also be music and refreshments. And we will be giving away free torch lighters with attached LED flashlights: free with any purchase!

Hope to see you there!
