Is the Brown School doing their fund-raising cards this year? I haven't heard anything about it, and we're heading in towards the start of the school year.

This is about a month away, but no hurt in posting it early! For those of you who are lucky enough to be able to get out of the office on a weekday, think about golfing in the Somerville Homeless Coalition's 9th Annual Golf Tournament fundraiser!

This year’s tournament will be held at the Sandy Burr Country Club in Wayland, Mass, September 15th. Golfers can check-in the day of the event at 10a.m., followed by lunch. Shotgun start will be at 11a.m. The event will feature an 18-hole scramble, prizes, dinner reception, as well as a “Best of Day” awards ceremony. All proceeds will benefit the non-profit organization and the programs and services it provides to the homeless and near-homeless in Somerville and the Greater Boston area.

The cost to participate is $150 per person or $600 for a four-person team. Participants can sign-up as an individual, or in two, three or four person groups. Event sponsorships are also available for businesses, starting at $150. A sponsorship guarantees the participating organization visibility to up to 144 golfers, exposure to visitors on the official SHC website, and mention in the newsletter and annual report. All proceeds go to SHC and the programs and services it provides to the homeless and near-homeless in need.

To register for the event or purchase a sponsorship, visit the SHC website at www.shcinc.org or call at (617) 623-6111.

Hi all, I have tickets to the Tedeschi Trucks Band concert tomorrow night (Wednesday) at the Bank of America pavilion that I can't use.  Face value is $100, but I'd like to see them used, so I'll take the best offer.

If interested, email me at mderidder at gmail dot com

In preparation for the Somerville Bicycle Committee's Tour de Somerville on October 15, "Arts in the 'Ville", I made a map of all locations I know of in Somerville that are involved in producing, exhibiting, or performing art (other than private homes):

http://goo.gl/NpP19

The symbols on my map:
Blue balloon - Artist work space; most also have some public events such as Open Studios
Red balloon - Live music venue
Green balloon - Anything else, especially exhibition and performance spaces, retail stores, or places that offer classes
Red pushpin - Recording studio
Purple balloon - Disused theatre

The distinction between blue and green balloon is pretty arbitrary on my part, and won't really matter in the end once this turns into a bike route.

I'm sure I've made some errors and have missed some venues. Can you help me refine it? When it's finished, I hope to turn it over to the Somerville Arts Council for future maintenance.
