Storm prep

For Somerville and Boston, other than wet basements and potential power outages, do we have anything else to worry about?   In particular, broken windows, how likely is that?

This page on the city's website is a little alarming:

It is saying we should board up our windows, but I'm assuming this is some generic info they pasted.  Still I'm a little frustrated by not being able to find specific information about Boston.  Most of the news is faced on the Cape/Springfield.   I understand that is where the drama is but I want to know what prep I need to take here too.

Last Call!

Hey Everyone,

Last call for all this free stuff. We've moved it all to the old apartment's front porch so no coordination or communication is necessary, you can just come by and take it at your convenience. It'll be there until next Wednesday night (at which time anything unclaimed meets its fate with the trash truck) and everything is first-come, first-serve. Send me a message and I'll give you the address.

C'mon, practical hurricane prep includes transporting large pieces of furniture so you'll have a place to store all of your French Toast ingredients when the power goes out, right?

Edited to add: This stuff is on an enclosed porch. It may get ruined by rain but it is safe from being swept away.

Just a friendly reminder:
Especially for folks who are moving this weekend, or just moved:

Do Not leave stuff on your porch or on the curb tonight!

Let's not have everyone's left-over cruft from moving become airborne. Bringing stuff in from your porch is not about saving items that you don't want to lose, it's about not leaving them to be tossed through your neighbor's window, into their car, etc.

Thanks!

The MBTA has announced that all service will be suspended tomorrow, due to the hurricane in case that wasn't obvious. RIDE services will be available in the event of urgent medical need.

I don't know if anyone knows some, but my friend just got back from Portland, ME and she has awesome ghost stories from there. It's a perfect night to be telling ghost stories and especially a fun activity for tomorrow. Don't know if there are any tags appropriate for it!

Got any?!
