Seeking birthday cake

My awesome roommate celebrates her birthday today and I would like to get her a cake (I baked her a cake exactly once, and it was a sad cake).

There is a lovely recommendations post (http://davis-square.livejournal.com/2760867.html) and I hope to have time to call those bakeries. But in the meantime, dear D3 folks, I have a more detailed question for you:
Where can I get a particularly awesome carrot cake, lemon cake, or red velvet cake? Points for really tasty frosting and decorations.

Edited to add: The easiest seems to be red velvet cupcakes from Petsi Pies. They've kindly put half a dozen aside for me. Thank you, all of you!

Calling all Knitters, Crocheters, and Creative Do Gooders!

Join us this Sunday, Jan. 8th (2 pm at the Nave Gallery) for some creative fun all for an amazing cause.

Each November, the Nave Gallery in Somerville, MA hosts Wrap Around, a sale of affordable handmade woolen goods to support the Somerville Homeless Coalition. All proceeds help fund the amazing work that SHC does, and anything not sold is donated to them.

The mission of this group, if you choose to accept, is to meet monthly at one of Somerville's hot spots, chat with very cool people, and knit, crochet, or create items for next November's sale. This is a really fun way to get your craft on and help keep someone warm during our very cold winter.

Hope to see you on Sunday! There will be coffee, tea, and some light snacks. Feel free to bring something to munch on if you'd like.

Glass etching?

Does anyone have any experience finding somewhere local that would etch some wine glasses for a themed party I'm having in a week? Either I buy glasses and bring them in, or it's fine with me if they sell the glasses as well. I know its short notice.
I really wanted that little shop called DangerAwesome in Central Square to do this, but I think they are only into lasering stuff, not etching/sandblasting.
