Free Packing materials/boxes

If anyone is looking for packing materials, I have a ton out on my front porch now.

Not as many boxes left, as someone came and took much of them, but I have three garbage bags full of paper/bubblewrap, etc, and four boxes full of packing peanuts.

Sky Lantern Followup

FYI - Just saw this posted on the city's Facebook page:

"BAN ON SKY LANTERNS ANNOUNCED: Citing the devices as a “serious fire hazard,” the Somerville Fire Dept. has issued a citywide ban on the use of sky lanterns. The paper or cloth lanterns float like helium balloons using hot air generated from a candle or other open flame placed inside the lantern. Violators are now subject to fines up to $1,000. The ban came after recent reports of sky lantern use in the city, including that one lantern landed on a roof while still burning. “For our densely-populated community, with so many wooden-framed homes side by side, these devices present a high potential for serious harm,” said Deputy Chief Sullivan."

SN and the pending Firefighters' Raise

Earlier, at the SN, I had noticed a new article on the pending Firefighter's contract that had this YouTube link:

What do you think is going on? Some kind of mutiny inside the newspaper?
While this is a bit over the top, there are issues of giving retroactive raises to firefighters
at a time when the City is cutting many other services! Firefighters, behave like heroes, if
you want to be called heroes!
