My friend [livejournal.com profile] siderea spent several hours this weekend researching the candidates for Middlesex South Register of Deeds, so the rest of us don't have to ;-) She recommends a vote for Maryann Heuston, and you can read her totally awesome public post on the subject here:

[livejournal.com profile] siderea: : Whatchadoin Thursday? Southern Middlesex Register of Deeds Race

Her post includes links to several relevant newspaper articles and videos of televised debate forums, if you want to look into the matter further before voting this Thursday. The comments are well worth reading, too.

ETA 9/4 14:56: Her post endorsed Maryann Heuston, but now has an addendum saying that she may be changing her mind based on new information, and to check back later tonight. Hmmm.

ETA 9/4 23:55: She now says "My recommendation stands" (for Maryann Heuston).

ETA 9/5: The Somerville News sent a questionnaire to all the Register of Deeds candidates, and got responses back from all of them except for Antonelli. But Concannon seems to have sent them a press release rather than answering the newspaper's questions.

Dear Davis Square Residents, Business Owners, Visitors, and Fans:
Please note! Our September 11th meeting has been rescheduled to September 24th. We will now meet in the Senior Center at the Tufts Administration Building, 167 Holland Street, at 6pm.
Background:
At our August 7th meeting on Davis Square’s streetscape, the City’s project team gave some updates on potential schemes for improving the square based on public input. We also discussed some of the options for the aesthetics of the square, including pavements and street furniture. The slides from this meeting are now online, available through our new blog post:
http://somervilleresistat.blogspot.com/2012/08/discussion-continues-on-davis-square.html
Our fifth meeting will continue the discussion on these alternatives.
We look forward to seeing you on the 24th!

I've been using loopnet.com and found some interesting leads, but I'm curious how good their coverage is. Are there other sites or registries where I should be looking? I'm specifically looking for mixed use zones in Somerville, Medford, Everett, Arlington, Cambridge, but I'm somewhat interested in other sorts of properties in those and surrounding towns.

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is holding a primary election this THURSDAY, September 6. Polls are open from 7 am to 8 pm.. Depending on where you live, you may have contested races for one or more of: US Representative in Congress, State Senator, State Representative, Governor's Council, Register of Deeds.

As a result of the 2010 census, all Congressional and state legislative district lines have changed. So have some ward and precinct lines. Some polling places have moved, most notably Somerville Ward 6 Precinct 1, which is no longer at the Dilboy VFW and is now instead at the Kennedy School, Sartwell Avenue entrance.

To find out what ward and precinct you are now in, where your polling place is, and who is on your primary ballot, fill out the form at http://WhereDoIVoteMA.com .

If you are registered in the Democratic, Republican, or Green-Rainbow party, you may take only that party's ballot. If you are unenrolled (independent), you may take any (one) party's ballot; doing so will not automatically enroll you in that party.
