Just wanted to encourage you all to come see …It's a Love Thang, opening this Thursday at the Boston Playwrights' Theatre. I'm really excited about it. It's two brand spanking new one-acts (that are actually an act long) by very talented local playwrights. In The Gift of an Orange, by Charlene Donaghy, in the heat of the bayou, a young man wanders into the life of a seductive enchantress and alters her beliefs. In The Delicate Art of Customer Service, by Cliff Odle, the line between the professional and the personal is blurred when two service reps realize how complicated their jobs can truly be. Directed by Jackie Davis and featuring James Bocock, Medfordian Richard Caines, Davis Squarian Jenny Gutbezahl and Dayenne C. Byron Walters.

The play runs Thursday September 6 through Sunday September 16 Thursday evenings at 7 pm Friday, and Saturday evenings at 8 pm Sunday matinees at 3 pm

Boston Playwrights Theater, 949 Commonwealth Ave, Boston MA 02215 Wheelchair accessible. Adult themes; nudity

$25.00 general admission; $15.00 students and seniors. Tickets are available at http://www.tinyurl.com/LoveThang.

It worked well last time, so here's another: I have two big lovely bunches each of mustard greens and radishes that I am willing to trade for other stuff. Anyone interested? I'm in Davis Square close to the soon-to-open Q's Nuts.

At Dragon*Con in Atlanta this past weekend, Somerville's own Post-Meridian Radio Players received the 2012 Parsec Award for the Best Speculative Fiction Audio Drama (Long Form) for their 10-part mystery/horror/action-adventure/dark fantasy (yes, it's hard to classify) miniseries, The Mask of Inanna. Over the past several years, the Parsecs have become one of the most prestigious audio drama awards in America, so this is a huge deal for us!

The Mask of Inanna was written and directed by Alicia Goranson, whose work you have seen in PMRP's live productions of The War of the Worlds: The Fall of Boston, The Sirens of War, Doctor Who and the Starship of Madness and this fall's upcoming Halloween production of The Shivers on Highway 61 (which actually comes from an episode of The Mask of Inanna).

The show was recorded almost exclusively at Unity Somerville near Davis Square and featured a number of current and former 'Villens, including [livejournal.com profile] srakkt, [livejournal.com profile] kissoflife, [livejournal.com profile] ladrescher, [livejournal.com profile] taiganwolf, [livejournal.com profile] hahathor, [livejournal.com profile] clarity_dog, [livejournal.com profile] eclecticavatar, [livejournal.com profile] preraphaelite, [livejournal.com profile] ladydayelle, [livejournal.com profile] lediva, [livejournal.com profile] jason237, [livejournal.com profile] derspatchel, [livejournal.com profile] trowa_barton, [livejournal.com profile] usernamenumber, [livejournal.com profile] lisa_sturgeon and [livejournal.com profile] thismightbejess. Not to mention some guest appearances by Somerville's own tom_champion!

We're still a bit stunned right now. We were up against some very tough competition, particularly Second Shift, which is a fantastic show and, like The Mask of Inanna, was recorded extensivey in Somerville, starred some of the same actors and had some of the same production team. It was hard to be up against our friends!

So, we here at PMRP would like to thank the folks of Somerville, who keep coming to our shows and telling us how much they enjoy our work. If it wasn't for you folks, I'm not sure we'd have had the courage to make The Mask of Inanna. You're all really awesome!

Yarnstorming Perry Park was a hit, and it looks oh-so-pretty.

So of course, our next Sunday K&SCS will be in the park. Come by, check it out, bring some treats for munching if you'd like, and enjoy.

If it rains, we'll move to a place right next door.

About Knit & Sip Crochet Soirees

Each November, the Nave Gallery hosts Wrap Around, a sale of affordable handmade goods. All proceeds help fund the amazing work of the Somerville Homeless Coalition, and anything not sold is donated to them.

Join our monthly meetup, and knit, crochet, and create items for next November's sale. This is a really fun way to get your craft on and help keep someone warm during our very cold winters.

To keep up to date on events, join the meetup group at: http://www.meetup.com/Knit-Sip-Crochet-Soirees/.
